HALFCOOL Posted July 20, 2022 Wretched Flesh is a set of 5 boom-compatible (-complevel 9) maps. The .wad includes a dehacked file that makes the combat slightly faster paced. All of the maps are mostly linear. Combat ranges from cramped brawls to wide open skirmishes. Difficulty options are implemented. Levels should take around 20-30 minutes to beat blind, although the last map takes longer. Any feedback is welcome. IWAD : Doom2Map format : BoomPorts tested with : dsda-doom 0.24.3 and GZdoom 4.7.1 Jumping/crouching will break progression, freelook should be okay. NuMetalManiak Posted July 20, 2022 Very good levels! Nice linear gameplay and I didn't run into any bugs. Last level was a bit confusing with the switches at one point but I figured things out eventually. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
LadyMistDragon Posted July 23, 2022 (edited) demo of the first map. And that's probably all I'm doing;P. That was a laaarge map. Is it safe to assume that difficulty remains essentially constant? lmd_wretch_01.zip Edited July 23, 2022 by LadyMistDragon 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

It's a whole voodoo doll contraption. 7 hours ago, LadyMistDragon said: demo of the first map. And that's probably all I'm doing;P. That was a laaarge map. I tried to make a linear difficulty curve. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

I had to wonder since it clearly was getting quite dfficult at the end. What kinds of environments are in the later maps? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

MAP01 is a city map MAP02 is some type of concrete facility that works with molten magma MAP03 is on the outskirts of the city at twilight MAP04 is a hellish office complex MAP05 is a tech-base taken over by flesh, or flesh-base 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
sandwedge Posted July 31, 2022 (edited) Hey just played the first couple levels no commentary, really enjoyed them! A fair amount of challenge without being too overwhelming, large levels with lots of nice detail and some cool setpieces! The lava fight in the second level is quite memorable to me, as resources start to open up over time along with tons of monsters all around you! Would like to finish these sometime! :) Edited July 31, 2022 by sandwedge 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
sandwedge Posted August 9, 2022 Played the last 3 maps on a couple streams, this is one of my favourite mapsets I've played that's seen so little response, which is a shame. Excellent, spicy gameplay with tasteful dehacked changes, lots of visual flair, exciting lock-in encounter design without feeling samey. Each map was constructed with certain themes in mind, and I got a kick out of the final map which had monsters and items catapulting around in fun ways. Definitely check this out if you missed it, but I might suggest turning down to HMP unless you want something very challenging with lots of cramped lock-in encounters. Xymph Posted June 28, 2023 The CWILV map names are in reverse order from those in the DEHACKED/UMAPINFO lumps. How bizarre... 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
