DBP55: Jolly Junkyard

Another DBP... I still havent played the previous one. Getting a backlog here...

This is an odd theme combination to say the least. The gloom-and-doom postapo setting looked good, but throwing in the Christmas theme ruined it. Do you plan to release postapo-only version, by any chance?

quick report (I only really played MAP01):

 

MAP01:
    - the chaingun (thing 189) secret can't be opened from inside so it's possible to get stuck there
MAP02:
    - I'm not sure about the exact intention behind lines 3972 and 3973 but seems like they may not work as intended: in vanilla compatibility the revenants on top of the lines don't teleport out and instead use up the lines so they can't be used afterwards either (in vanilla a W1 teleport line is "used up" even when crossed from the back without anyone/anything being teleported).
    - line 2002 uses a Boom action - doesn't break anything since it's just a light transfer, just won't work in vanilla compatibility
MAP07:
    - doesn't have any coop starts, unlike all the other maps

I unintentionally left a 2002 reference there. I really wanted to make it in a form of graffiti, but forgot to.

 

As for teleporters: I hope this doesn't make maxing the map impossible. Also wasn't aware of that feature with w1 teleport.

I believe you have to punch the door to get back out, iirc. Otherwise not sure.

Just checked, it isn't punchable or openable from the inside.

Good grief you DBP guys sure know how to keep me busy! After Steamy Bathhouse, a nice Christmas DBP seems appropriate. Gonna check this one out ASAP

Another great DBP, I do like that you went with a weird idea and made it work.  I love post-apocalyptic and urban wasteland style maps so this is a fun mash-up.  As usual delivers well on the theme with lots of nice detail and doomcute, and accessible and fun difficulty.  The new christmas assets are a treat, especially after seeing the same ones in a few wads.  Second video out soon, merry christmas everyone!

Finished it in this one, a nice 2 hour romp.  Map 6 really feels like it delivers on the "jolly junkyard" concept to the fullest extent, and is one of my favs, but they're all great.  Hopefully people still wanna play christmas stuff over the holidays because this is a great one.  Happy holidays!

There's no plans for a post-apocalypse only version of the mapset, it was always intended to be mixed with the Christmas theme. Though maybe we'll do a pure post-apocalyptic theme for a DBP sometime in the future.

This is probably a bit of an inopportune time for a Christmas-themed WAD to be finalized but it has and it's now on idgames and I've updated the OP accordingly. Maybe you can play it next Christmas if you haven't already.

There's also some other DBPs that are now up on idgames (56, 57) but I'll post in those another day so as not to clog up the Wads & Mods thread too much right now.
