Graffiti / Wall Writing

I was playing Machete the other day and noticed one of the maps had this graffiti in it:

Which ended up reminding me of this other graffiti in What Remains:

Which ended up making me wonder how many other expressions of graffiti and wall writing had been done in wads, so I reached out to the best and brightest minds I could think of, and I got couple of extra contributions from @thelamp and @Billa, which were from Ancient Aliens, TNT, and Overboard respectively:

And now my question to you, Doomworld posters, is "do you have any other interesting instances of graffiti or wall writing in Doom wads?". I'd love to see more examples, since it's a bit more involved to make compared to doing something like writing words out of sectors.

When I got to that area in Machete my interpretation was that it was a reference to What Remains, since it uses the exact, google image searched image I edited, even the name is intact.

 

In terms of "writing" in doom, I can think of the text at the beginning of Eternal Doom 3, but that's more like 4th wall breaking story telling. Very RPG like.

Ad Mortum Map 02 has a taunting message written near a berserk pack near a ledge that's quite easy to miss.

 

In the super-secret bonus map, I can also remember seeing some other stuff written in blood. 

 

I think I may have seen this in other horror-themed wads, but I never stopped to take notes unfortunately.

My contribution to the genre, from Fall of Society (screen grabbed from Deathwing Duck’s YouTube channel since I’m phoneposting). I’ve seen so many videos where the player wonders aloud about the intended jump/crouch/freelook settings, considers looking for the info, then decides “nah I’ll just take a guess.” So I started including little reminders in more advanced-format projects:

Fun fact: frstreet.wad, dating august 1994, is one of the earliest examples of a map containing graffiti. In this instance it's used to decorate a subway station!

The graffiti in Comatose isn't graphically complicated per se, but it is offset by its interesting use as a narrative/world-buidling element rather than just pure decoration. Elaborating it isn't as fun as experiencing it, so best to check the map yourself.

 

Some more conventional "fun" graffiti can be found in spades in Echelon, which were mostly solicited by Soundblock in this thread (where more examples can be found).
