What is your absolute favorite wad?

I want to ask the community what their favorite wad is. No holds barred, youre in love with it, but which one? Ill allow JUST ONE runner up in case theres a toss up and you cant decide.

Well I'll go. Rush. Played it through recently and thoroughly enjoyed it.

 

My runner up is Scythe.

 

Also you should probably give your own favorite as well

If we're going by like old mappers of the yester years, i have to say Scythe 2

 

for a runner up i would have to go with Snaxalotl's Stickeny Installation

Yeah but if I had to pick my favorite "Favorite WAD Thread" of all time, it'd be this one.

I guess I'd have to pick Valiant as my favorite and Sunlust as runner up. Scythe 1 also deserves some love but it's not quite on the same tier.

Walpurgis has a special place in my heart, it's the one that got me into Doom modding.

 

If we're talking about mapsets though, probably Sunder, which to me is just perfect* in terms of difficulty and variety in a slaughterfest.

Considering OP's recent troubles with reading, i am going to suggest this and kindly lay down the advice to read each and every entry presented.

It isn't a hard question because the real answer is: It is subjective. Sure there will be some WAD's that stick out, but everyone has different favorites.

 

And if you want something more condensed, just use the Cacowards as a rule of thumb, which i suppose you knew already.

Why do we have to decided for you which WADS are people's favorite, based on what others liked?

 

Why can't you test drive some WADS from the Cacowards and decide for yourself what your favorite is?

Though I haven’t gotten through as many wads as I’d like to properly answer this question, I’m gonna go with Dark Universe, which has one of the best atmospheres and aesthetics of any modern Doom wad I’ve seen, despite being short.

Never played it myself, but I definitely watched a few videos on batman doom when I was younger because it looked so ridiculous (in a good way)

Tough choice, but if I had to pick only one, it would be NEIS <3 Although I have to say that MyHouse was also an incredible experience, it left a very big impression on me for quite some time and made me question my worth as a mapper haha :')

Its very hard to argue against Ancient Aliens. Ive placed in my top 3 elsewhere on the forums.
