lwks Posted July 1, 2020 A few years ago I remember playing(?) a Hexen/Heretic mod, I think it was a staple for the total conversion fantasy rpg genre or something, it was similar to this one: You would start in a city surrounded by high city walls, it was big and I remember there were NPCs too. The city was near the shore and very soon you would go there and board a ship were there would be this cut-scene where the ship sails (and I think it gets attacked???) while an NPC or a voice is talking to you as stuff goes by on the sides of the ship, and then you would reach a new landmass where you would disembark and go to your adventure. The whole thing had this fantasy medieval adventure feeling to it, can't seem to find it though, might be misremembering a few things too. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Bauul Posted July 10, 2020 Jimmy's nostalgic ZDoom thread got me remembering a (probably quite crappy) wad I played, likely in the early 2000s, that I'd love to hunt down again. My memory is of a single map: it starts in a small building absolutely surrounded by enemies (almost like a horde mode type experience), before leading through an outdoor area (maybe like a canyon?) and mostly just mowing down enemies. Notably, it was absolutely stocked with all sorts of custom monsters and weapons. I remember chaingunners riding on arachnotrons, I remember AT-STs from Star Wars, I remember all sorts of weird stuff. Maybe even helicopters. The weapons were custom too, featuring some (I believe) from Heretic. And the music was a delightful version of the Beverly Hill Cop theme. Does this ring a bell for anyone? 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
Keyboard_Doomer Posted July 11, 2020 The description otherwise doesn't really match but it might be of some help that the helicopters and chaingunners riding arachnotrons most likely originated from this wad: https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom2/a-c/allhell (there's a lot of files in the zip, the sprites are in Allhell.wad) 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
MiningSquirrel1 Posted July 13, 2020 this mightn't be the right place but like other doom games for doom 2? like the doom 64 for doom 2 one but with other doom games do those exist 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
vdgg Posted July 13, 2020 An unusual request, as I have the WAD... So it may be easy actually It is called sanctum.wad , date is November 2012. It is a Boom compatible map very much in the style of CHORD series, only shorter. I have only the WAD, no .zip, no .txt, I didn't find it on /idgames. Who's the author? Where the hell did I get this WAD from? :D 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

vdgg Posted July 14, 2020 (edited) @HitBoi64 No, no, it's neither of the two. That's the problem. I said I didn't find it on /idgames, so if it's there at all, it is under a different name Edited July 14, 2020 by vdgg 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Keyboard_Doomer Posted July 14, 2020 It would help if you could upload the WAD. Maybe someone will recognize it or it may be possible to find it with a checksum. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Grazza Posted July 14, 2020 (edited) All I can find is this. The date doesn't quite match; maybe you playtested an early version (close enough for that to be possible). Or maybe you just mysteriously altered the date stamp top confuse yourself at a later point. :p But yeah, posting some more of the information that you have about this thing would clearly help. Mad Butcher Posted July 15, 2020 I found Sanctum of Knowledge.wad dated 30-Nov-2012. I couldn't find anything about this map. https://www.dropbox.com/s/qozwqtsafh85zgn/Sanctum_of_Knowledge_Updated.zip?dl=1 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
vdgg Posted July 15, 2020 @Keyboard_Doomer. It's the WAD provided by Mad Butcher. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
ASaltShaker Posted July 27, 2020 I dont remember a lot about this map, but I do remember its filename/original title to be around 3 letters length. I think I also recall it being Russian-made, although I don't think that's accurate. Map01 starts with you in some kind of plane or techbase area. I do specifically remember having wolfenstein ss enemies being used in this level. It ends with you teleporting then dying by barrels and being sent to the next level. Map02 is in an outside area. I think there was a theme of a plane crash. Zombie hitscanners are introduced here. That's all I can remember, really. I think there was custom music but the weapons, HUD, etc. were unchanged. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Skronkidonk Posted July 28, 2020 Does anyone know how to play No rest for the living on PC? I played it on Xbox but I'm curious to see what it feels like on computer. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

SLON Posted July 28, 2020 Any good space-themed wads (spaceships, black sky with stars, .etc)? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Brütehead Posted July 30, 2020 I remember playing this map that starts with Wolfenstein SS in a tech base that acts as a level select hub for smaller Doom maps. I probably still have it, I just have no clue what it was called. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Doohnibor Posted August 1, 2020 So many TNT versions... Over the many years I stopped to follow the development at some point out of frustration. Now trying to get back up to speed.... but it is VERY confusing ... especially because the names seem to be somewhat different. Can someone please get me up to speed ? If I remember correctly there even was a TNT twid planned.... but I couldn't find it. Thanks a lot : ) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Fairweather Posted August 1, 2020 Old level, cloning facility, has a hinged door, ends with blowing up cloning vats w/ a switch that dunks on hidden Romero Heads, quite old IIRC. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Krenium Posted August 3, 2020 (edited) It's a megawad for Doom 2. It's vanilla-ish or boom-ish. All I remember is one map. You start outside, round a corner, and there are tons of mancubi individually stuck in cages. There's a steep pit separating them and it requires some platforming to get across. Then a lot of pinkies. Eventually you find a teleport and you end up on a pirate ship. The interior of the ship is quite dark and cramped. You fight your way outside after finding a keycard and there are some more mancubi surrounding the ship. Off in the distance, you can see a large island/the shore which you can eventually reach to end the map. Edited August 3, 2020 by Krenium spelling, add more details 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

cCc_0leg_cCc Posted August 3, 2020 I want a weapon wad that has old rusty-looking weapons with wood parts in them, plus good ol' revolvers. Stuff you'd find in farmer bill's garage. I don't want crazy big ol' space guns that shine with blue lights. I also don't want it to change the monsters I just want the guns. I have found some wads that had what I needed but they also changed the monsters. If anybody got something like this please lemme know. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Thanks for digging that up! You're right, it's not the right mapset, but it is clearly where they got the enemies from. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Ola J Posted August 7, 2020 Wads for Doom2 with episodes? Currently playing through Eviternity (awesome!) and I really like the fact that it's divided into episodes, despite being a Doom2 MegaWad. I haven't checked, but I think maybe Scythe 2 is also divided into episodes this way? Are there any other (good) wads (for Doom2) that are episodic? By episodic I mean "episodes selectable from a menu when you choose New Game", btw. I know that Doom2 itself is sort of divided into episodes, but that's not what I'm after. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
