printz Posted August 23, 2015 NOT SURE, but this looks suspicious for security. If I have a PM with quotes (") in its title (subject) in my inbox or sent items, and I order "Reply" or "Forward", the new title (subject, i.e. Re: … or Fw: …) will truncate everything from the quote onwards. 0 Share this post Link to post
Capellan Posted August 23, 2015 I no longer get a notification email when I receive a PM. I've checked that the "send email when you get a PM?" setting in my Options is still "yes". Anyone else experiencing this? 0 Share this post Link to post
Capellan Posted August 25, 2015 Setting "send email when you get a PM?" to "no", saving the change, then changing it back to "yes" and saving again seems to have fixed the problem. 0 Share this post Link to post
Gez Posted September 10, 2015 Whenever I try a forum search using both keyword and user name, I end up getting a "connection reset" message after a long while. Searching just by keyword works. 0 Share this post Link to post
VGA Posted September 10, 2015 In my tablet, using Chrome, first search attempt always fails after a while, then I press back, reenter the keyword and then it always works! I'm always searching in titles btw. 0 Share this post Link to post
Linguica Posted September 10, 2015 I'm almost certain that the shitty search code is timing out because it is taking so long to find something. I really really want to just disable the search entirely at this point. 0 Share this post Link to post
Budoka Posted September 13, 2015 I'm trying to post a review for H2H-XMAS but it won't go through for some reason. When I hit "submit vote", The page refreshes, but my comment doesn't show up and even disappears from the textbox. No error notification is shown. I've never had this problem until now. 0 Share this post Link to post
Da Werecat Posted September 13, 2015 I had this problem when I tried to submit troll comments using Tor. 0 Share this post Link to post
Budoka Posted September 13, 2015 I don't have Tor set up for my browser, nor do I have any former accounts on this site. 0 Share this post Link to post

RjY Posted September 14, 2015 Could you update the /idgames API to return the new canonical format for the URL field? % curl -s 'http://www.doomworld.com/idgames/api/api.php?action=get&out=json&id=17781' \ | jq -r .content.url http://www.doomworld.com/idgames/?file=levels/doom2/megawads/200minvr.zip % curl -s 'http://www.doomworld.com/idgames/api/api.php?action=search&out=json&query=icar2015' \ | jq -r .content.file.url http://www.doomworld.com/idgames/?file=levels/doom2/g-i/icar2015.zip It would save following a bunch of 301 redirects, and the new canonical format is slightly shorter, with no characters special to the shell in it, both of which are desirable consequences I think. (Also I wish JSON was the default output format instead of XML but I expect it's too late to change that now.) 0 Share this post Link to post
Linguica Posted September 16, 2015 https://www.doomworld.com/vb/ I finally broke down and got a SSL certificate, so please try browsing in https and see if anything seems super broken. 0 Share this post Link to post

scifista42 Posted September 17, 2015 Thread links got corrupted in Internet Explorer since yesterday. For example, when I click on this thread in IE, it goes to this page: http://www.doomworld.com/vb/everything-else/everything-else/62678-site-and-or-forum-bugs-or-things-not-working/ Notice the double "everything-else". Of course, this leads to a 404 error. Happens in every thread link in the thread lists in subforums. Also, thread tags and some other icons don't display anymore: (EDIT: as well as all avatars) 0 Share this post Link to post

I'm not sure what I am supposed to do - the base href is necessary for a lot of stuff to work, but leaving it as a http:// link defeats the purpose of a https version. Do I need to write something to change the base href to https when that's the protocol being used to serve the page? Ugh. edit: apparently it's known that Internet Explorer, among all major browsers, is the only one that won't abide a relative bas href. I added a javascript bit from http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3926197/html-base-tag-and-local-folder-path-with-internet-explorer/13373180#13373180 so tell me if it works now. 0 Share this post Link to post
baja blast rd. Posted September 17, 2015 That just now happened in Chrome for a few mins, and then the site went down for a couple of minutes. Never mind, I see what happened: "/vb/" ended up being removed from the URLs somehow. 0 Share this post Link to post
scifista42 Posted September 17, 2015 @Linguica: No, it's the same as before. Links still malfunction and pages look like this: Also, clicking on "New Reply" brought me to a non-existent page: (superfluous "post/" after "vb/") http://www.doomworld.com/vb/post/newreply.php?action=newreply&threadid=62678 EDIT: Anyway, after I corrected the urls manually, I actually posted this reply from IE. And subsequently edited it, too. 0 Share this post Link to post
Linguica Posted September 17, 2015 OK so since MSIE is a big ole piece of shit I have to figure out how to change the base href based on the protocol being used hooray! 0 Share this post Link to post

Expand I find that very questionable; to the best of my knowledge, HTTPS everywhere is a very good thing to have. Perhaps there is an issue I am unaware of -- may I ask Bloodshedder to explain his reasoning? Regardless, HSTS requires bootstrapping - it only kicks in if you, at first, intentionally visit the site over SSL. If you never use an HTTPS link to visit Doomworld, your browser will never receive the header, and you will continue to use unencrypted HTTP. 0 Share this post Link to post

I think all you need to do is add an extra header in the response to https:// requests. Expand Looking into HSTS, it looks like it applies to the entire domain, and if a browser supports HSTS, it will then REFUSE to connect to the site over HTTP for the length specified (default recommended time looks to be 6 months). Since I want to just start out with offering HTTPS on the forums and not the whole site (given that the forums are the only part where you are actually entering a password or writing private messages), that seems a little extreme for the moment. I guess the best solution for the moment is probably gonna be to code in a new user option for "Always use HTTPS" or something. 0 Share this post Link to post
