NOT SURE, but this looks suspicious for security.

If I have a PM with quotes (") in its title (subject) in my inbox or sent items, and I order "Reply" or "Forward", the new title (subject, i.e. Re: … or Fw: …) will truncate everything from the quote onwards.

I no longer get a notification email when I receive a PM.

I've checked that the "send email when you get a PM?" setting in my Options is still "yes".

Anyone else experiencing this?

Setting "send email when you get a PM?" to "no", saving the change, then changing it back to "yes" and saving again seems to have fixed the problem.

Whenever I try a forum search using both keyword and user name, I end up getting a "connection reset" message after a long while. Searching just by keyword works.

In my tablet, using Chrome, first search attempt always fails after a while, then I press back, reenter the keyword and then it always works!

I'm always searching in titles btw.

I'm almost certain that the shitty search code is timing out because it is taking so long to find something. I really really want to just disable the search entirely at this point.

I'm trying to post a review for H2H-XMAS but it won't go through for some reason. When I hit "submit vote", The page refreshes, but my comment doesn't show up and even disappears from the textbox. No error notification is shown. I've never had this problem until now.

Voting was completely broken for a few days. It should have been working at the time you made this post. Have you tried again recently?

A few questions:

What browser are you using
Are you logged in while posting comments (i.e. does it say "Commenting as: Budoka") or does it say Anonymous
If Anonymous, are you filling out the spambot check to the right of the rating selector box
Have you tried turning it off and back on again

It's a joke among IT people. Rebooting can solve a lot of problems.

Otherwise I don't know what to tell you. Voting for me is working fine using Firefox.

Could you update the /idgames API to return the new canonical format for the URL field?

Could you implement HSTS so browsers will redirect automatically? I think all you need to do is add an extra header in the response to https:// requests.

Thread links got corrupted in Internet Explorer since yesterday. For example, when I click on this thread in IE, it goes to this page:

Notice the double "everything-else". Of course, this leads to a 404 error. Happens in every thread link in the thread lists in subforums.

Also, thread tags and some other icons don't display anymore: (EDIT: as well as all avatars)

Bloodshedder doesn't want to make people use HTTPS. So I'm not sure where that leaves us.

This is probably because I changed the base href on the forums from "http://www.doomworld.com/vb/" to just "/vb/". I'm not sure what I am supposed to do - the base href is necessary for a lot of stuff to work, but leaving it as a http:// link defeats the purpose of a https version. Do I need to write something to change the base href to https when that's the protocol being used to serve the page? Ugh.

edit: apparently it's known that Internet Explorer, among all major browsers, is the only one that won't abide a relative bas href. I added a javascript bit from http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3926197/html-base-tag-and-local-folder-path-with-internet-explorer/13373180#13373180 so tell me if it works now.

I find that very questionable; to the best of my knowledge, HTTPS everywhere is a very good thing to have. Perhaps there is an issue I am unaware of -- may I ask Bloodshedder to explain his reasoning?

Regardless, HSTS requires bootstrapping - it only kicks in if you, at first, intentionally visit the site over SSL. If you never use an HTTPS link to visit Doomworld, your browser will never receive the header, and you will continue to use unencrypted HTTP.

Looking into HSTS, it looks like it applies to the entire domain, and if a browser supports HSTS, it will then REFUSE to connect to the site over HTTP for the length specified (default recommended time looks to be 6 months). Since I want to just start out with offering HTTPS on the forums and not the whole site (given that the forums are the only part where you are actually entering a password or writing private messages), that seems a little extreme for the moment.

I guess the best solution for the moment is probably gonna be to code in a new user option for "Always use HTTPS" or something.
