  1. Theory: Doomguy gets put into the Divinity Machine halfway through the game as a mid-season upgrade (think Kane's Stroggification in Quake 4). All gameplay in that trailer is from early in the campaign. Music-wise, MFG is on the money. Levy and Hulshult did the job in TAG, and if they are back for TDA, it's a safe bet that they've had a LOT more time to work on the music this time around. That said, it would be funny if it turned out that someone like GeoffPlaysGuitar was brought on board.
  2. Biggest question for me is resource management ie the inevitable changes to acquisition of health, armour and ammo. And also, will it run on a 3060.
  3. Don't get too excited - at most you'll get a logo and a "see it at Quakecon" caption like always.
  4. Lara Croft (obviously) - Core era specifically (AoD notwithstanding) Jacqueline Natla from TR1 Blaze Fielding from Streets of Rage Miria from Guardian Legend Boss/Playa and Shaundi from Saints Row 2 And Billie-Sue from Wabbit on the Atari 2600, just for being the actual first :P
  5. Immediately cancelled my NSO the moment I heard the Big N was going after Yuzu last week. Nintendo have seen their last penny from me. As a fan of emulation/preservation (albeit one who never actually bothered with Yuzu or Citra), I cannot in good conscience continue to support a company that acts in this manner. The argument that the Yuzu devs painted a target on their backs is a valid one (especially with the Patreon paywall), but hacked Switch systems existed long before Yuzu gained any meaningful compatibility. All of this could have been avoided if the OG Tegra X1 didn't have an unpatchable exploit, yet I don't see a summons showing up on Jensen's doorstep for "facilitating piracy" (emulation isn't piracy, btw). I didn't use Yuzu as I don't really have any interest in emulating a current system that I can buy games for. In ten years though when the hardware starts to fail, what then? Nintendo doesn't care, they'll make you rent the same fucking Super Mario rom you bought from them three times over already. Yuzu were admittedly reckless, but this development heralds a deeply concerning precedent going forward. In other news, finally got myself a MiSTer last week. Yes, I am officially an FPGA convert. Have a few Analogue systems including the Pocket but figured I'd save my money with an all-in-one solution going forward. It is absolutely fantastic so far. Saturn support is a bit spotty, but the N64 core blew me away with how well it runs even problem games like Quake I & II.
  6. Following the recent statements by both Phil Spencer and Naomi Matsuoka, I am compelled to say the Analogue Pocket.
  7. BS F-Zero Deluxe. Some absolute feckin' madmen threw their heads up and set about recreating ALL of the lost Satellaview F-Zero levels, complete with proper playfield tiles and backgrounds, using nothing but a VHS tape of the original gameplay as reference. Definitely a contender for Romhack of the Year and we're only in February.
  8. Just a good, wholesome song about a cat...
  9. Sad to hear. Quake 3 is probably second only to Doom for me in terms of lifetime hours played. Rest in peace.
  10. DOOM X The Pogues & Kirsty MacColl - "Fairytale Of New York" It was 93, man The magazines said I'd need a 486 To get this thing to run And I was blown away By all the review scores But all I could do then Was dream about Doom Became a lucky one Got it on PS1 It sounded different But still I carried on So happy birthday We love ya Doomguy You created memories Where all the things went boom It's got guns big as boats It's got demons galore But it's not for the faint-hearted With the guts and the gore When I first laid my hand On that old BFG I knew that some mayhem Was waiting for me It was violent, it was gritty With the graphics so pretty When we'd all finished playing We cried out for more Jack Thompson was crying Mrs. Clinton was lying "It simulates murder" What a big load of shite The ghouls in the Aubrey Hodges choir Were singing "Danny Won" It was time to rip and tear 'Til it was done Yous are dull, yous are cowards Yous don't want things too hard Tiptoeing round bad guys With cover and stealth Cos Halo's for laggards Call Of Duty's for [UNSAFE CONTENT DETECTED] "Cinematic" your arse Your campaigns never last The ghouls in the Aubrey Hodges choir Are singing "Danny Won" So it's time to rip and tear Until it's done And so it's clear to see There's quite a legacy I can't believe we're here Yet still we're playing on 'Cause it's bee thirty years And here's to thirty more What would this industry Have turned into without you The ghouls in the Aubrey Hodges choir's Still singing "Danny Won" Once again, we'll rip and tear Until it's done -------------- RIP Shane MacGowan
  11. Gonna be THAT person for a minute: No Dan Houser No Les Benzies No LAZLOW And certain topics of satire have already been declared off-limits. Consider my expectations well and truly managed. Oh, and it's not coming out until 2026. I know this because R* games always have a minimum of at least 3 delays..
  12. Pretty much this, although this position makes you a Sandy Hook denier in Rudolph's eyes if the last time this topic came up is anything to go by...
  13. No way, this shit is official?? And premium??? I thought this was some fanboy's bedroom project, not a commercial product you have to pay for. The problem with meme games is that memes have a shelf life. Once the novelty wears off, all you're left with is a substandard Metal Slug knockoff that you just burnt $20 on. But hey, like others have said, those billions worth of legal fees aren't gonna pay themselves. Nah, just a mouthpiece. That's why he's into the civil courts for 9 figures but still a free man. 1A functioning as intended, folks. Talk shit, get sued.
  14. Pretty sure the Sensible World of Soccer is still getting fan updates, but I haven't checked back in about 2-3 years.
