WolfenDoom of old and WolfAddict PC releases

You mean these guys? If so, they replace the Cyberdemon's sprites in ORGFX.WAD in the .zip I shared in that thread. -
WolfenDoom of old and WolfAddict PC releases
SiFi270 replied to ludicrous_peridot's topic in Everything Else
I was pretty intrigued to hear there was a classic WolfenDoom wad I missed, but as soon as I saw the name "Bruce Ryder" I understood why. It's a long story that seems to conclude with him disappearing completely in the early 2000s, and if you want further details I think someone else would do a better job of explaining than I can. Sorry to burden others like that, but I'm just not good at discussing the heavy subject that's involved. Anyway, if anyone can shed some light on what became of the wad, it'd be @Laz Rojas, but I don't suppose getting in contact with him will be easy. -

The Unity Port Thread - PS/Xbox/Switch/IOS/Android

I noticed the wiki page says a bunch of existing addons were modified the same day Revolution was added. Does anyone know what the differences might be? I know @Doomkid has some prior versions on Doomshack, but I don't know if it's all of them. -

If new secrets were added, I'm surprised Map05 was kept as-is and not given a proper fourth secret. I also saw that Map33 was acknowledged in the DMAPINFO lump, but commented out. -

Oh dang oh dang. I always thought that was the oldest one to have a chance, unless they decided to go as far back as Enjay Doom or something. EDIT: And it uses the Midi Pack! But Map04's music was replaced, presumably because the original was based on a track from Shadow the Hedgehog. EDIT: Map33 can't be accessed from the menu, but you can still IDCLEV to it. Apparently "Betray" is still the default name for maps in that slot. -

The whole reason Scythe was such a turning point in PWAD history was because every single ZDoom wad at the time (plus Nimrod, which used Legacy instead) had a "power's down, go restore the power" sequence to showcase what was possible with advanced scripting, then Map14 of Scythe was all "you can do that in vanilla" and everyone else was like "oh" Trent Reznor got his start composing midis that acted as just a preview of the full songs he wanted to compose but didn't yet have the means to do so. He submitted these for use in the DWANGO series of wads, and id was so impressed that they gave him the means to compose tracks for Quake that matched his artistic vision. Shortly afterward, he finally released the proper versions of his DWANGO tracks, and paid tribute to id by naming his new band after the "NIИ" symbols that appeared in E4M1 of Doom and on ammo boxes in Quake. id would later remove the symbol from later versions of Ultimate Doom and admit they didn't know why they put it there in the first place.

It all started when I decided to calculate once and for all just how many custom levels were worth playing. The answer turned out to be infinity. And it seems I still have infinity more to go.

So my computer got another update and immediately afterward the keyboard works again. It seems my hunch was right but that doesn't undo the costly mistakes I've made trying to fix things myself. I think I was just too ignorant to help others help me, and I apologize if that's frustrated anyone.

I don't know any more. I think it's more likely Lenovo's fault than Microsoft's, but I figure all I can do about it at this point is take it back to where I got it and see if they can work something out.

The update was the only thing that happened between it working just fine and not working at all. Of course that's not a 100% guarantee of anything but it seemed like an Occam's Razor kind of situation. Since I made that post I've tried a factory reset and regretted it, one of many consequences is the listed updates all having the same install date, but it seems the only ones starting with KB are KB4589212 and KB5013887.

The German version of Doom II's IWAD, despite being based on version 1.666, uses the same versions of Map25 and Map29 as versions 1.7 onwards. The wiki gives the same date for the former two, but now I'm wondering if that was just a guess.

Looking through the text files for earlier versions of John Anderson's Inferno wads is kind of a gold mine. With version 1.0 of Crossing Acheron, he said he only placed it in E1M3 for the music, and then in version 1.666 he said Virgil's Lead will occupy E1M2 between the two maps he'd released at that point. Makes me wonder now if there's a Doom 1 version of it somewhere, but if there is hopes of it being discovered are presumably as thin as they are for the Doom 2 version of Chiron/And Hell Followed and the version of Waters of Lethe seen in that infamous screenshot. Going back to version 1.0 of Acheron, one example of the kind of feedback he was hoping to receive was "Now I know what John Cormack [sic] MEANT to do in "Unholy Cathedral." [closing quotes for the level name but not the quote itself is also a sic]

So this thread inspired me to check out the Doom 1 versions of Enigma's maps, and it didn't take me long to find something peculiar. In Mt. Doom, if you head to the southeast corner of the first open area and shoot the second red stripe to the left of the blue torch (it may take a few shots), Boom family ports will get a signal 11 crash, Crispy will more or less do the same but without a message, but strict engines like Chocolate, RUDE and vanilla (both v1.2 and Ultimate) will be fine. If it only happened when you followed those precise instructions, the obvious answer would be "don't do that then," but that's just how I managed to consistently reproduce it. It can happen in normal gameplay with other parts of the wall, and the zombies can trigger it too. As usual I'm not sure how to conclude this or what should or could be done about it.

Dead Perfect A couple of things I noticed while playing Ultimate Simplicity are how the subtitle for map11 says it used to be a Strife map, and there are names and subtitles for maps 21 to 28, despite the default Doom 2 levels still being in those slots. The first four can be found in Some Maps From Some Episode of Some Megawad, but I haven't been able to find the others. usimp_hudMisc.acs also refers to the secret ROTT level as map31 rather than map32, with that one instead being called "Triad Part Deux". So that's six Agent Spork levels unaccounted for, but the only one I can be sure they even started on is the Strife level.
