I have the kind of lazy mind that makes the first level theme the theme of the whole wad. Which makes things interesting whenever I revisit Memento Mori 2. "Hey, that's the theme from Eviternity. And that's the theme from Japanese Community Project. And that one in particular has lost any and all chances of being recognized as anything other than the theme from the Massmouth series."

The fact that the Phobos base has a "toxin refinery" suggests to me that the UAC are trying to weaponize it, because as one of Demonsteele's fortune cookies pointed out, how do you "refine" a toxin? By making it deadlier. Of course, they probably abandoned any plans along these lines when the demons came along and said "hey, we're your new biggest threat and we're completely unaffected by this stuff. now what?" EDIT: Responding to the post directly above me, which didn't exist when I started on my post, this should help clear a few things up for you.

When did Old School FPS fans turn around on Halo?

Didn't you get the memo? He was already disqualified after winning infinity zillion of those. -
They'd probably make good railgun slugs.

You mean those blue dots? I think that's actually part of the UI for whatever editor that is. It's still totally possible to finish the pre-1.2 versions with 100% items... but there is a stimpack in the outdoor area the armor pedestal overlooks.

Kevin Conroy (longtime voice of Batman) has passed away.

I can already hear Arleen Sorkin playing Amazing Grace on kazoo... -
Seeing this thread really made me paranoid. My head was filled with such questions as, "were there two pillars in the armor room?" and "was there a third secret with armor bonuses" and "were there fences in the second to last room?!??!?!!???!??!??" I had to double check the map in Slade to be sure it was exactly as I remembered it.

Category 3 in the sense that I did a practice run with just fast monsters at first. Then I accidentally did another when I didn't quite specify the full path to the .deh file. In all three of my runs, I died in E1M3. "Magic number" indeed. sidwi-e1.zip

I'm pretty sure there's already a DeHackEd patch for the solid bodies issue, and it's required to watch certain Chillax demos. Because of that, it's included with the wad on DSDA.

The achievement icon seen after beating the Fun levels in the Doom 64 rerelease (or as I like to call it, Doom 64 EX²: Destiny is Real and This was Kaiser's) shows a BFG Edition-style capsule on a berserk pack.

The "Future Threat" level from Wolf3D Ultimate Challenge takes place on the Phobos base between KDitD and Doom 64. The demon BJ fights there has yet to fully mutate into the Mother Demon. Alternatively, it's not a mutation but how it naturally grows, like how a caterpillar becomes a butterfly.

What's the most you've handicapped yourself when playing Doom?
SiFi270 replied to SPG's topic in Doom General
Playing the Mac version before SheepShaver could handle mouse movement in FPS games. Doom in particular only has a handful of control presets, and the closest one to WASD is IJKL, with J and L stuck as turning keys and U and O used for strafing instead. You CAN choose a firing button, but ctrl is out of the question, so I picked Z instead. -
So after the initial post about Plutonia 2 was made, @Diabolución added this link to its wiki page. I thought "oh boy, I bet they'll share it in this thread next!" but I guess not. They said in the page history that the directory wasn't browsable, but unless I'm misunderstanding something I didn't have a problem downloading it all, save for p206bet1.zip being password protected. The main files seem to be p2b01may and p2l_01, the latter of which is dated three months later and requires p2res07. I haven't done an especially in-depth comparison between the two or the directory's many single map wads, but one thing I noticed is how map06 of the May build crashed Crispy Doom, looked wrong in PrBoom+, and seemed to work as intended in ZDoom with just a little complaining from the console.
-
Now there may be some part of this I'm misunderstanding, but I think there may be a lost version of the Monster Resource WAD that these two demos need to sync properly. On the previous version of DSDA hosted by Andy Olivera, the front page linked to two wads the demos supposedly required, one of them being Kaiser's Console Doom partial conversion and the other being a version of the Monster Resource WAD dated September 2004. Even with these loaded and the right version of ZDoom used, the demos still desync once the MRW's Afrits appear, which is what makes me think a different version of that file is required, but I'm not especially confident it can still be found today.

[GZDoom] DOOM CE: PSX TC & D64 Retribution, overhauled
SiFi270 replied to molecicco's topic in WAD Releases & Development
The Reckoning does have official secrets. I'm not sure how the editor tagged them, but they're acknowledged in-game. -
How feasible would it be to give a similar color scheme for the Hemodemon? I've been working on a vanilla-compatible cosmetic mod that aims to make things more D64-like while sticking to the vanilla style, and I think the Hemodemon is the ideal counterpart to the Pain Elemental in such a mod.

A couple I made for Kaiser's old Console Doom partial conversion. The first is always meant to be loaded because it contains all the CWILV## lumps, but if you load the second one afterward, is divides the maps into episodes based on what game or wad they're originally from, then puts them back in chronological order and makes the intermission texts more accurate. On its own, the first one should be faithful to the experience you'd get playing the original conversion in a ZDoom family port. EDIT: I updated it so that the second has labels indicating which slot a map originally occupied. cdoomumi.zip

One thing I'd love to see is an optional HUD with health and ammo represented by actual numbers. EDIT: My wish came true! Thanks guys!

One very specific example. Map07 of 32in24-14 brings this to mind.
