    <spoiler>it's not working ):</spoiler> asdfgh
  2. eh, it's just a dumb joke is all. not a huge deal really
  3. you left a vaporeon in there. you have failed. begone with you!
  4. op is bringing 2000s emo back into style lol, i love it anyways, go look at the cacowards and 10 years of doom list for good recommendations. they're there for good reason; another thread asking for suggestions isn't gonna help all that much when it comes to finding new stuff to play
  5. the "author" attempted to sell it at first until everyone rightfully told him to fuck off
  6. it's about an edgelord who plagiarizes a bunch of content and then tries to sell it. not very good, 5/10 at most tbh
  7. ...fuck it i'll be mixing map10 from doom 2 with map23 of plutonia. slot 23?
  8. hmmm. will there be any form of quality control in this? you're much more experienced than most cp managers (seemingly a rarity these days), though i'm still cautious.
  9. why are there stormtroopers in the background
  10. ...you don't know that. maybe there will be.
  11. nah, that never happened to me after playing wolf3d. when i played through wolf3d, it was on the gba (i know, i know...srsly tho, it's not that bad), which would only let you save at the end of a level. it was uh...horrid. lol. however, that didn't rewire my brain or anything to not save; if anything, it made me far more grateful to be able to save mid-game in doom instead of only being able to at the end of the map. that sorta thing truly makes you realize how much you've taken seemingly basic quality of life features for granted. heh, built-in blockmap bug yeah, wolf3d's combat is rather interesting. it very much feels like you're supposed to have a very slow, cautious playstyle due to how quickly the player character can die...but the ideal strategy is actually the complete opposite. you're supposed to keep moving in order to be a harder target. it makes sense, seeing as how romero loves movement...it just feels so counterintuitive at first
  12. ay man, look, i don't like nato either. they've been complicit in a lot of horrific shit over the years, but the way i look at it is that russia still manages to be so awful that nato is fairly decent in comparison. it's a similarish scenario as in ww2; the allies were absolutely not good in any way shape or form (just look at what the brits did to the bengals, holy shit), but they still managed to be better than the axis powers purely because they were just that fuckin bad. now obviously i'm not saying that this is akin to ww2 or anything, but a similar sort of relativity (albeit scaled down quite a bit) is still very present in this conflict. even though nato is pretty goddamn awful in a lot of ways, the other guys are so, so much worse, and nothing that nato has done over the years justifies the shit that they've done. anyways, we should probably drop it before some dipshit comes in and goes "NUH UH UR WRONG PUTIN IS GOOD AND I LOVE HIM"
  13. i think you guys are missing the part where he says that's what he thought in 1994 when he was 14 lol
  14. Yes, I agree! These games are far too violent in such a meaningless way. Worst of all, my son, James "Jimmy" Paddock, has been negatively affected by the brutal depictions of gore in the game...it was only two weeks ago that I got a call home from school saying that he had punched all of the blood out of another student. I've grounded him since then - no more DooM for him!
  15. ackshually there was also map15 and map19. clearly you are not a True Doom Fan like i am
  16. The direction that nu-id is taking the series in SUCKS!!! The original DooM games were VERY SERIOUS GAMES for VERY SERIOUS PEOPLE!!!! They were thoroughly grounded in reality and were horror masterpieces rivaled only by the likes of Resident Evil 5 and Silent Hill Downpour, but this new FAKE DooM is over the top and stupid. It's way too edgy and cartoonish (neither of which could describe the first games, nosireedoo), and the soundtrack is simply far too metal for this franchise. Classic DooM had elevator music, not metal! Why is there metal in the new games! WHY!!!!! The worst part, however, is the lore. People always say that it doesn't matter much because it's all skippable, BUT I PLAY DOOM FOR THE STORY!!!!! DooM is known for its rich, intricate lore, and nu-DooM should be no exception that that. Yet, it is! Why!!! I went in expecting one of the greatest pieces of fiction ever told, but I came out feeling disgusted with the world. Now, with this new entry, it looks like it'll be in medieval times. BUT THERE WERE NEVER ANY CASTLES IN DOOM!!!!!! It has exclusively been techbases and hell throughout the entire series, with absolutely no deviation whatsoever. Castles were only ever in some other game id software released in 1996, but as it didn't follow my exact idea of what a game by id software should be, it was atrocious and wound up falling into obscurity. Anyways, despite how much I despise these new games, I'm gonna buy The Dark Ages when it comes out and endlessly complain about how awful I think it is. What about you guys?
  17. ah yes, because we all know how wonderful the likes of konami and sega are this has nothing to do with western or eastern culture. it's a worldwide problem with the industry
  18. okay then, in that case, quit whining about not jabba rightfully telling people to stop digging into things they shouldn't be digging into. if it ruins the mystery for you, whoop-de-fuckin-doo, that's better than someone's life getting ruined because a bunch of nosy 14y/os can't let shit go untouched. this isn't some story where all the aspects need to be uncovered. soft-doxxing people has consequences.
  19. ...you do realize that none of us were in on it, right? this forum thread wasn't made as a creepypasta like some candle cove shit, it was all a natural reaction to the wad. that post wad made because people were actually hunting down the creator and soft-doxxing him, it wasn't inserted as part of some overlying story. this isn't some weird collaborative arg. people were genuinely doing harmful things and people were having to be told to cut the shit
  20. yeah, tbh i'm so jaded from not only the constant overhyping of new games that turn out to be okayish at best, but also the nonstop bullshit that seems to follow the games industry with every step it takes. i've been over modern aaa games for years at this point because there's absolutely zero point to it anymore. why try to follow new releases when there's a good chance it's either gonna be a shitty sequel, a mediocre game that gets the shit hyped out of it and disappoints everyone, or will be made using the most unethical business practices imaginable? that's especially why, while i do follow them more than other franchises, i don't really care that much about the newer games in the doom series. if they're good, great, i'll play them in five years or so. if they're not? eh, that's a shame, but i'm not gonna sit around whining until the end of time like some people do, because i know it's never gonna be good as stuff that's made with actual passion backing them up. i'll just play those instead. what really gets me more than anything though are the people who keep falling for it. they'll buy the game on launch despite all the horrible behind the scenes shit that's happened, and then start whining when it's not amazing and only then care about the employees who were abused.
  21. i mean...it literally was
  22. yep, unfortunately. just gonna quote a previous post of mine:
  23. that shield looks a lot like the centaur shield from hexen
  24. while i do see where you're coming from, i feel like what you're talking about doesn't work as well in doom as it does in other games. the fact that the player's biggest strength lies in their agility means that, no matter what enemy you throw at them, they're likely gonna find them to be fairly easy to fight one-on-one when the surroundings aren't heavily influencing the fight. the only way that i can see an enemy like that working is if it's so complex in its attack patterns that it's relegated to a really small niche that doesn't work elsewhere. i feel like this can be seen pretty much whenever an enemy like that is used in a wad. nearly every single time they end up not working very well; i think that the sole example of a lone boss enemy being really great in doom is eviternity 2's final boss, but that had a specially designed arena that would change its geometry in accordance with the boss's stages and attacks, thus falling into the "relegated to a really small niche" category.
