  1. Hey @hakros, Sorry to necro this, but is there ever going to be a consolidated version of this pack? I'd love to use it, but picking out and assembling piece by piece is time-consuming, and a little frustrating to use. I know you say 'select the category you are most interested in' - but that's not really how most people go about texturing things - people like to mix and match more easily. Like for example, if I'm making a house, I'd prob want a few things from CONCRETE, some DECALS, some FABRIC, some PLASTER, some TILES, etc. - loading all of that as separate pk3s is a bit inconvenient. These are some great textures, they have a very unique look to them - but, I feel people are not using it as much as they would because of the split category method of releasing this. Yes, I know it would be a gargantuan file, (just under 500MB likely) some people would have an issue w/ that, but that's not a problem for me, seeing as I am fairly well versed in Slade's maintenance tools - I'd be able to strip the excess fairly easily, I imagine. I really want to use this pack, but I don't want to have to load all of the packs separately in UDB - that sounds like it would be a pain to assemble in Slade after - seeing as there's so many categories. I also didn't really want to have to re-organize and assemble it all myself - I just wanted to use a texture pack that you load from one file, just like every other texture pack available, (nearly). Do you have any plans for a fully collected version of this? I can almost guarantee it'd boost the amount of people willing to use it. Why not have an optional large download of everything combined? Leave the split categories still available, but provide a link for the complete version? Anyway, if I've misunderstood anything please let me know. Thanks! :)
  2. I feel like starting something new - I'm just waiting for feedback from a couple more playtesters, and then I'll try to release Frantik DM 3 by March 15th, hopefully!

I could start Havok DM 3 - I'd make that in Zandronum:UDMF also. Havok DM is more duel-focused, so the maps would likely be smaller on average than FDM3's.

Could be a good palette-cleanser before I start something larger again. Aiming for 12 maps.

Only thing is, I need to find a good large texture pack. I was thinking of HakrosTex, due to its huge size...

Maybe I'll just make a few maps w/ it, and see if I like it!

    :)

  3. Can't recommend the Anbernic RG405-V enough - w/ DeltaTouch installed, this thing is a godsend:

Some people don't like playing Doom w/ a controller, but this is just so nice to use. I bought a big bulky purple 'grip' from Etsy, which makes it even nicer to play w/.

It runs even the most demanding GZDOOM WADs w/ ease!

    X7FwhnE.jpg

Not to mention it can emulate every game console up to PS2 - as well as about 50% of the PS2 library - surprisingly, it runs GameCube nearly flawlessly.

Not sure why I took so long to get one of these - for the price, it's a pretty crazy value. I guess I was worried about the build quality - but this thing is built like a tank, weighs like 2 pounds, and has a built-in cooling fan - so no problems there!

I'm looking forward to the next model which will likely be able to play nearly the entire PS2 library well.

Definitely worth it, if you want your entire Doom library on the go, of if you want to play DeltaTouch without the touchscreen overlay!

    :D

  4. Very nice map - 'Dirk Sessler' sounds like some kind of 80s action hero name...
  5. I've finished all 32 maps of Frantik DM 3!

So glad to have the bulk of the work behind me!

Just a bunch of extra testing, and some corrections, and I'll be ready for release sometime in March, I hope!

  8. The final map of Frantik DM 3, (MAP30) will be a hell-infected techbase of some kind.

Flesh oozing out of computer monitors, cracks in the floor, holes in the wall - blood waterfalls and pools, red glare, gore, etc.

    :D

  9. Frantik DM 3: MAP15: Echo Chamber: I'm done the nature episode! This is some kind of subterranean sinkhole filled w/ water. Retrieving the BFG requires a MASSIVE jump from the top pillar! 31/32 maps complete! There's one last map to make! It's a hell level - not sure what I'm gonna do yet! Excited! :D
  10. What I'm trying to drive home, is that if you're this new, why are you doing this now? We all seem to be skeptical, because you have not provided any evidence of your map making abilities whatsoever. We're not here to 'tear you apart critcally' or anything, but really if you're trying to sell this idea, you need to show-off what you're capable of. That's just a fact - you should be eager to show-off what you've already done / worked on, as that will likely be the impetus for many to join you. Why would people join under a project leader who has next to no experience? We're not shitting on you, we're trying to help you. I assure you that - we're just so used to seeing these 'BIG IDEAS' posts, w/ nothing to show alongside them.
  11. Great, so you should post your work so that others can see it, and see if signing on for HOURS and HOURS to work on this, is worth their time or not. Also, not to be rude - but assembling WADs is highly different thing from making WADs - the fact that you won't link or provide anything to show-off what you are capable of doing does not bode well for this project's future. It's fine to be inexperienced, hell, we were all inexperienced at some point in time - but at least be aware of your current limitations. If you've remade D1 E1 from memory, post it! People need to have something they can see from you - if you want people to sign on and give you their hard earned free time - especially, as I assume you'll be the project lead on this. And now you're saying that this is something you plan on doing in the future? Okay, when? That statement alone should make people nervous of 'signing on'. Just try not to bite off more than you can chew - that's what everyone in this thread has been saying. If you need help for editing related questions, and all that, we're all here to help - just know your current limitations! Once, again! Start small!
  12. And... Have you released anything? I'm just extremely skeptical - you have a post count of 11, and from what I can see after a cursory glance at your profile / posts - no released files... Can you provide any of your own work, so others can at least see if this will be worth their time? Start small! Everyone seems to want to climb Everest without first climbing an anthill...
  13. Frantik DM 3: MAP15: Echo Chamber:

I'm getting somewhere w/ the final 'nature' map - it's going to be a large cavern system!

It might be done today, still have a lot to do!

    :)

  14. Frantik DM 3: MAP31: Mystic:

    Mostly finished this one!

Didn't want to double-post in the 'what are you working on' thread, so I'm posting it here. This was originally going to be either just purple or just magenta - but I kind of like the mix better.

I thought the UFO would be a perfect place for a BFG - I've made it so that it can only be jumped onto at its bottom point. The map looks quite simple, but there's a lot of elevation in this one.

    :D

    Spoiler

1 nature level, 1 hell level, and 1 'purple/pink level' left!

  15. Frantik DM 3: MAP31: Mystic: A bobbing UFO!! The map itself is only this one room right now, but I'll likely be done it soon-ish! It was a bit tricky to make, but I finally figured it out! Thanks to @jaeden for pointing me in the right direction! :)
  16. I got my little flying saucer in MAP31 to bob up and down!

Took me a while, but w/ some help, I was able to get it done.

It's a very cool effect, I'm glad I didn't give up on it.

    :D

    1. The BMFG

      The BMFG

Reminds me of when i had to build a UFO while I was in "Mapping at warpspeed"

  17. To give an update: I was able to set it up correctly - I was about to give up from some frustration, but I got it to work. Thanks again! :)
  18. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction - I'll see if I can figure it out!

  20. Here you are. Just made the link now: https://www.mediafire.com/file/c0jlrph9mac152m/greenwar2-tex.wad/file :)
  21. Hi, I'm fairly new to Zandronum: UDMF - I'm trying to find out if this is even possible - I fully expect that I will need to use some ACS. Problem is, I'm completely lost in that area. I essentially want this 'UFO' to rise and fall, or 'bob' a bit. I looked at ACS floor_waggle and ACS ceiling_waggle, but that doesn't seem to be the effect I'm looking for visually. If it does require ACS, or something similar, an example would be greatly appreciated. Anyways, I used Zandronum:UDMF's built-in 3D floors plugin to make it. Great plugin, btw, super easy for a noob like me to use! The UFO only has 4 tags total - it's at least not very complex. Reason I'm mentioning Zandro:UDMF is that whatever suggestions / answers I receive, there can only be 1 tag per sector, I believe - it's not quite like GZ:UDMF from what I understand. I'm explaining myself terribly, I know. TLDR: Basically, I want the entirety of the UFO (comprised entirely of 3D floors) to move up and down in unison - not even by a large amount, likely no more than 48-64 units - let's say 64 units up, 64 units down. Is this possible in Zandronum:UDMF? see pic: Here's the WAD file for this map, if it is needed - this is on MAP31, please load Doom 2: https://www.mediafire.com/file/fgrsroa3ijgxaxk/MAP31-ufo3dfloors-example.wad/file Thanks for any help! :)
  22. I am looking for this file: https://zandronum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5859 'Bouncy Deathmatch' I need it, as I'd like to check how they did what they did in Zandronum - this seems to be the only Zandronum WAD I can find that makes great use of 'ceiling_waggle / floor_waggle' - it'd very much help me in my newest project. The user seems to have deleted it for some reason! Thanks!
  23. Frantik DM 3: MAP14: Watering Hole: The fourth 'nature' level is complete! This is some kind of rain-filled watering hole in the middle of a desert - there was some kind of battle here, a long time ago: 28/32 maps complete! Getting closer! :D
  24. Frantik DM 3: MAP14: Watering Hole:

The tank is coming along - not done yet, but getting there!

You can look down the barrel, and see one of the shells!

I used Otex1.1's doortrak texture for the treads - I think it does a reasonable job.
