Frantik DM 3: MAP19: DAMMED AGAIN
This is a new layout - a sequel of sorts to FDM1's MAP15, 'DAMMED'.
It's like if the Hoover Dam and a jungle-gym combined somehow - that's the closest I can describe it. Jump pads were important in this layout, due to the verticality. I set them up to give just enough thrust to reach each platform - it's quite easy to get around in this level, all things considered.
The top 4 platforms lead to a blue armor - it's a long ways down if you miss it! It's kind of like a 'leapfrog' thing I've got going on up top. Should be hectic I hope.
Gonna finish this up tomorrow - geometry is like 90% done.
Time for some sleep!

I have acquired a working microphone.
Seriously considering doing some laidback live mapping streams - basically making a DM map from scratch, while chatting w/ people...
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous a little bit - but I'm sure that'd iron out as we went along.
Might not happen for a little while, I want to make sure everything is in order first - as well as actually learning how to stream 'correctly'. You know, all the little details.
Could be fun. Would be cool to take requests from people, too! I can usually blast out a map in 3-5 hours' time - a bit faster if I'm in 'speedmapping mode'.
I've done 1 stream before, but I had no microphone, and it was more of a random test than anything else.
So yeah, something I'm thinking about. Might make things more fun.
Like I said, I know nothing about streaming, really. So I'm going to have to do a crash-course first.
I'll keep you all updated, but it might not be for a while still.

This is coming along pretty good, I think. The pincer cranes were a tiny bit tricky, but I think I've got roughly the look I want now!
90% of the geometry is complete.
Just texturing, lighting, and a bit more detail left!

The forklift idea is going really really well.
I'll post a finished set of images in the 'DoomCute' thread later.

Thinking up something new.
A factory.
Overhead pincer cranes, conveyor belts? Crates / boxes? Rust? Warning stripes? An incinerator?
Something like that.
Maybe a large central atrium where one can jump across pincer cranes holding boxes?
Maybe if I go completely insane, I might try to make a 3D floor forklift...

I can't seem to find a 3D floor layout I'm happy w/ right now - I've got a setup where I make a five point star on a pole, and then sequentially 'layer' the 3D floor fronds diagonally downward - it's hard to explain.
They looked way too simplistic for me, and kind of detracted from the look I was going for on this map.
I'd rather just not have them for the time being, then have them look shoddy.
The island level is complete! I will be posting screenshots in the main thread shortly.

I've working on making 3D floor palm trees right now - mainly for my island level in FDM3.
I'll post pictures later if I have any success.

I've progressed a little bit further on the 'island' level.

The beginning of the second nature level. A lonely island in the middle of a sea.
I'm planning rock outcroppings, some decayed buildings - I'll add some trees, some watering holes, some raised grassy areas...
I'll have to see what happens I suppose.

This is working out far better than I thought it would when I was originally thinking up the concept.
I'm not 100% done the geometry or flow yet - but I should be finished by tonight, most likely.
I'm glad this is coming together correctly. This was the only map I was 'worried' about...

Frantik DM 3: MAP11: Jungle Canopy:
I've got the nature episode started now!
Getting the 3D floor mushrooms to work correctly under the 3D floor tree canopy has proven difficult, but I think I've got it to work!
This level is going to be essentially 2 main floors - a high jungle canopy floor, paired w/ a lower dark jungle floor.
Lots of ideas for this - teleporters and jump pads will likely be heavily utilized, as it will be hard to gain verticality otherwise.
I have a bunch of other 3D floor flora objects planned - I'll have to see what happens!

MAP28 is almost done. Just a bit of item placement and balancing / spawn-balancing to do.
