  1. I personally don't like first-person survival horror games - as in, games where something is actively hunting you, or trying to kill you. I prefer the 'psychological horror' sub-genre where things take on more of a 'haunted house' type feel - you know, like 'wow this is scary, but nothing in this game can kill my character, so there's nothing to worry about' kind of games. I do like third-person survival horror, like the Silent Hill series, and Clock Tower 3, though. I'll still play a first-person survival horror game, but very rarely, I get too immersed, and jump out of my skin at every jump scare.
  2. +1 for Duality by @AshtralFiend. Favorite thing I've played this year. Super fun maps, super creative level design, immaculate detailing too, but never to the point where it impedes movement, or annoys the player. Easy pick for me this year! :)
  3. Antiquated Extraterrestrials: MAP08: Null Frontier: Finished! Here are some GIFs - gonna make this a 10 or 12 map pack: Main atrium w/ BFG: Railgun room: Back hallway: Might do some kind of mayan theme coming up, or some kind of weird color combo, not sure yet... Onto MAP09! :D
  4. You've got to be joking, right? I mean, I actually like Obsidian/Oblige/Slige/ObHack, but why compile these types of WADs together, and then act like you've done something? It's odd behavior, not gonna lie. Made what? You've smashed a bunch of disparate WADs together - not sure what your goal is here...

  7. I think I'm going to release Dash CTF as an 8 map pack.

     

    It feels good as it is, I don't want to bloat the set too much. 

     

    We're gonna be playing it for Wadazine Flag Fest this Sunday.

     

    It will be nice to get some games going in this new set!

     

    I've got a complete beta ready to go for then, and then I'll likely release the set shortly after that.

     

    Still working on Antiquated Extraterrestrials MAP08, and I'm just waiting on a TITLEPIC for Dogfight Deathmatch, and then that should be released soon too!

     

    Also, I haven't forgotten about Apprehension, either. I'll be getting back to that soon, but I've been on a small MP kick recently again - but I'll get back to it soon enough. 

     

    Then it's onto more new projects! I've got a lot planned for the rest of the year, still!

  8. I've made some homemade hot sauce today!

     

    I took the 25 or so ounces I had of random varieties of peppers I grew last year, and threw them all together into this one sauce!

     

    It's very hot, but has a nice fruity sweetness to it!

    It turned out pretty well!

     

    I had a small hiccup w/ the 'O'-ring on my crappy old blender not sealing properly - so that made a little bit of a mess, but other than that, things went smoothly!

     

    This should last me for a while. I probably ended up we/ about 1.5 litres of sauce!

     

    I'd say it's about 100-120,000 scovilles, as I didn't put any peppers into the sauce that were hotter than that.

  10. Antiquated Extraterrestrials: MAP08: Null Frontier:

     

    I've got about 80% of the geometry complete for MAP08 of my new DM project!

     

    Hoping to get this done a bit later today!!

     

    This will be a red+dark purple gloomy techbase.

     

    The 3 platforms in the middle of the first image rise and lower, and there's a unique teleporter sequence set-up to allow you to return to the top floor if you miss your jump.

     

    Should hopefully make for an interesting time, I'll have to see!

  11. Very excited to see this released! If you like smaller sized levels, this is the pack for you! Everything is so beautifully detailed. Can't even begin to describe how much I enjoyed this pack. Was a lot of fun playtesting, congrats on your release!! :D

  13. I made a quick little duel map set in a park! Unnamed RK PhotoTex DM Pack: MAP01: Panic Park: This was made using RK PhotoTex ! Be sure to check it out in this thread, if you're interested in using it: So yeah, a lot of fun to make stuff w/! I might make a larger pack, or this may stay as a single park level for now. Either way, this is a great new set to make natural environments w/, IMO!! :D
  14. Starting work on a new duel map using RK PhotoTex!

     

    It's gonna be a small park area w/ a couple small buildings.

     

    I'm calling it 'Panic Park'.

     

    I'll post screenshots once I get something going here, shouldn't take too long!

  15. Antiquated Extraterrestrials: MAP07: Supernova Station: I re-textured that FoxTex map, because I couldn't get that pack to render correctly in Zandronum! I think this type of geometry fits better w/ the Ancient Aliens texture pack, anyway - so i think it worked out. I'll def use FoxTex in the future, still, if I can get it to work correctly in Zandro! Onto MAP08! Not sure what I'll do yet, kind of feeling like making something predominately red, maybe some purple, too. Could be an interesting combo. :D
  16. Fragbase Omicron, (my single FoxTex using map) has been fully re-textured / re-themed using the Ancient Aliens texture pack.

     

    It is now a royal blue / cyan space-base!

     

    I'll post screenshots in the main thread shortly!

     

    It'll go in my new DM pack as MAP07!

     

    Onto MAP08, shortly!!

  17. Just checked this out in Slade! Gonna see if I can whip up some kind of small deathmatch pack w/ this! I like the focus on natural / real-world type stuff, being that these are photo-based, of course. Should be fun to use! I'll link some screenshots here when I get around to it - shouldn't take me too long to at least get 1 map going! Good work, as usual! :D
  18. Antiquated Extraterrestrials: MAP06: Molten Murder: I'm done this one! I experimented w/ designing 3 separate volcano varieties roughly based on real world varieties. I'm no geologist, obviously - but I think my shield volcano and conical volcanoes look relatively similar to their real-world counterparts! They all scroll their lava down, and I animated them to be warped via ANIMDEFS. Okay, I know such a thing has likely been done before (making a 'functioning' sector volcano) - but I wanted to give a small tutorial if anyone is interested in making these in GZ/Zandronum UDMF: I've got plans for a royal blue/bright cyan combo techbase next! As w/ all of my maps, some textures may still change / be altered. Image 1: Entire view of central 'pump-house' building, including top. Image 2: A better view of the sides of the building, and the main slope ramp + adjacent bouncepads. Image 3: A tall stratovolcano w/ a green armor nestled in the top. Image 4: A shield volcano (left) and a shorter stratovolcano (right). Off to bed! I'm exhausted! Should be done this pack real soon - I'm speeding along!! :D

    Gonna re-texture that FoxTex techbase map I made for tomorrow.

     

    Once I'm done that I'll be 7 maps into this project!

  20. I still haven't been able to figure out whats causing parts of the FoxTex texture pack to not render correctly in the newest Zandronum.

     

    I haven't heard back from FoxHead, either, I imagine he's quite busy these days; so i don't fault him, but now I'm highly thinking of re-texturing to Ancient Aliens, and integrating the existing map into Antiquated Extraterrestrials...

     

    That'd give me 8 solid maps already, (after I finish this molten world level, I'm almost done, actually) and then only another 2-4 to do, before I can wrap this up and release it.

     

    If I find time tonight still, I may just start re-texturing. Should be easy: some floodfill here, a little floodfill there...

     

    Shouldn't take long at all, really.

     

    Perhaps I'll still use FoxTex down the road for a different project, once I figure out this rendering error I'm currently receiving...

      Whilst it's a shame to shelve the FoxTex, re-doing it for your current project seems like it could be an interesting conceptual challenge - best of luck with it, AH!

      Might get it done tonight - in a productive mood. I think I'm gonna convert it from that pastel red+grey base into some kind of bright cyan+dark blue combo...

       

      Remains to be seen if that will work out!

       

      Like you said, though! Should be an interesting challenge!

  21. I've got half a mind to make a redux of this using the Ancient Aliens texture pack, now that I'm quite familiar w/ it! Curves! 3D floors! Slopes! A railgun! I may even add my own twist to the geometry, instead of attempting to make this a 1:1 re-make of the Quake 3 / Quake Live map! The map's a single room, essentially, I could probably blast it out in 1.5-2 hours' time, I bet! Definitely on my itinerary!! :D
  22. I was actually able to stop by for a short period! I was surprised to see people still playing. Thanks once more for hosting, I hope you all check out the second iteration in the series sometime! I think it's a bit better than this one! Was glad to see players seemingly enjoying themselves! :)
  23. Apologies, I'm not able to make it to the event today. I'm still curious on how it ends up going though, I always like to hear if people enjoyed themselves or not. The third installment is on the way - all primary mapping is complete already. I intend on getting it released as soon as I can get a couple final art assets like a TITLEPIC. Anyway, hope you all had some fun at least! Unfortunate that I'm so busy today, but it is what it is! Thanks a lot for hosting, I appreciate it! :D
  24. Getting somewhere w/ Antiquated Extraterrestrials: MAP06:In Flames:

    A long ways to go still - there's a lot more natural geometry I need to set up!

     

    I've decided to keep the 'sector+slope+animdefs' volcanoes - I'm gonna make this map a bit more of a black / dark grey color than I originally was, to help highlight them better.

     

    Thanks to @Walter confetti for the aesthetics suggestion! The darker scheme will likely also help w/ contrasting the lava against the other textures, too. All in all, should be an improvement over the browns and beiges I was predominately going to use.

     

    The 1st image is some kind of magma-pump-house thing.

     

    You can teleport to the very top, or climb a segmented slope to get to the 2nd floor, where there is a supercharge. There are also a pair of bouncepads to more easily facilitate verticality in that area.

     

    2nd image is part of the magma cave system. This is going to be a lot more complex looking when I'm done w/ it!

     

    Things are going quite well w/ this AA project, so far, I believe!

     

    I'm optimistic I will be done my target of 10-12 maps very soon!
