About Me
Mods or games I should play
- Supplice
- Brutal Fate
My favorite original Doom maps are as follows:
- Episode 1, map 2 "Nuclear Plant", because the design is very technological
- Episode 4, map 3 "Sever the Wicked", because for me it's full of action from many directions.
- Doom 2, map 16 "The Suburbs", because of the minimalist and funny design.
- TNT Evilution map 12: "Crater", because of the space-travel background.
I recommend the following solely or primarily weapon mods:
Vanilla
- Beautiful Doom (great for combination with other mods as it let's you control which features of the mod can be turned on or off under "Beautiful Options" menu.
- Smooth Doom.
- EVP - Enhanced Vanilla Project.
Chocolate
- Led's Generic Weapons.
- Final Doomer.
- Supercharge (which I have found slightly more comfortable than Minicharge).
- Zagemod
- Brutal Doom.
- Brutal Doom Platinum.
- Project Brutality.
- Hellrider
- High Noon Drifter (which I'd less prefer for techbase-oriented-WADs).
I recommend these mod combinations
- Beautiful Doom (weapons only) AND Voxel for great 3D experience.
- Master Levels for Doom 2 with Hellrider.
- Supercharge with The Brotherhood of Ruin.
I recommend these maps/general mods
- DOOMONE
- Maps of Chaos.
- Brutal Doom Starter Pack.
- Double Impact (which is also the fourth chapter of FreeDoom and anyway very very techbase).
- Pirate Doom.
General recommendations
- I recommend checking the works of Simon Judd and especially "BloodRust"
Doom graphics discussions
- Should we say that Doom is two-dimensional, two-and-a-half dimensional, or both?
- What is the meaning of the term Y-shearing?
- Are Doom graphics based on Projective geometry?
Why I prefer Chasm: The Rift, over Quake
- It's more colorful.
- The enemies are cooler.
- I like the weapon mechanics more.
