Did you know Cacodemons are the most breedable?
LadyMistDragon replied to Master Saibot's topic in Doom General
This really isn't appropriate Doomworld discussion. And it's like, you don't post anything in 3 years then come back with this? There's not enough facepalms for this. -
good DOOM 2 WADS you'd replay more than once
LadyMistDragon replied to D3rpyD00dlez's topic in Doom General
180 Minutes Por Vivre Alien Vendetta No End in Sight Ancient Aliens 1000 Lines 3 Those are just the ones I'd play again but that's not exactly saying I will either :P -
We've had a few releases like that this year! Maiden Voyage, Evil Returns, Scorching Earth, and possibly Road to Hades are all examples of 32 level wads made essentially be people not really knee-deep (heh) in the Doom community.

Like it was ever on doubt! This is no Kingpin or SiN but I believe the main reason Nightdive was started. -
Endless Random /idgames WAD Adventures #087
LadyMistDragon replied to ICID's topic in WAD Discussion
MANIC WAD FILE (1994) by Andrew Harbour (Crispy Doom) In my continuing goal to get a wad with a stupidly long description that can be summed up with just a few sentences, this already seems fit to run away with the prize! Random-ass connected sectors, a certain sense of maziness despite not really being difficult to navigate, unmarked doors, key doors with basically no indications but misaligned walls and barrels in at least one case, zero sense of combat flow despite containing 300-plus monsters and incredibly odd and unintutive progression. For instance, to enter a particular lava maze, one has to grab a rad suit from a nearby room unlocked by pushing a timed switch in an adjacent hallway. Confusing? It should be. And the lift toward the end is very bad at marking the ultimate path to the exit. I was lucky to get it on my second try. Incidentally, the exit was placed at the end of a secret tunnel near the beginning you should probably have spotted through a yellow line on the map 3/10 -

What's going on with the Doomshack website?

he's living his best life.....it'll probably happen at some point but it's hard to know if he'll resume anything close to his prior level of activity. -

All the time. Much of the time, that ideation occupies the majority of my thinking. This place (among others) have gave me the sort of community feeling I've had to struggle far too much to find elsewhere. Sure, maybe I'll go attend an event or two at times, maybe volunteer, but that all feels kind of artificial. If you can find some kind of valuable connection with someone things will greatly improve. At least half of my struggles are because of not putting in enough consistent effort. There's never any guarantees but still, doing nothing always, always makes things worst.

[Boom] All Bloody Crackle - 7 maps - RC 1
LadyMistDragon replied to alexsa2015sa's topic in WAD Releases & Development
I know not everyone likes the largely tan maps (I tend not to) but these are genuinely good and deserve more attention than what they've been getting. Sorry if I rushed through but actually completing these maps take more time and what's more, I'd probably spend tons (or some) time looking for the secrets. I think these won't be too hard for experiences players as long as they don't rush things though.- 1 reply

Infestation, aka baby's first WAD
LadyMistDragon replied to Papyesh's topic in WAD Releases & Development
Sooo....I sort of glossed over the previous 2 maps because of Mina's commentary above (listen, I COULD say the whole name but I doubt she would expect it from literally anyone, so it's fine.....and yes, it could use a little improvement but there are still some nice visual ideas that can be located thorughout There's nothing that indicates in Map 03 the way to progress is behind the structure we start at. 04 is easily the best but even that suffers from a certain lack of focus in both monster placement and in the random shapes of rooms and quite a bit of visual signposting as well. This could be good, but it kind of drags to play as of now. -
So I did check this out. One thing that really stood out was how under-detailed practically every room and hallway is. It's not terribly important in hallways but at the very least, making hallways of nothing but STARTAN2 or CONCRTE is probably something that's best avoided and past a certain length, they should probably be spiced up with columns or something. Because as of now, these maps look very plain. There are other things to note such as the oddly high secret count, how easy it is to finish the first couple of maps in less than a couple of minutes each due to how they're structured more so than their size. But rn, I need to check some other Doom things out, maybe play some Helldivers later.

Endless Random /idgames WAD Adventures #087
LadyMistDragon replied to ICID's topic in WAD Discussion
So How is Hell (1997) by Daniel McGann (Crispy Doom) By less weapons, he means precisely FUCKING ZIP. There are multiple Romero heads, including one right in front of the beginning that you can blow up with some blocking barrels. Safe to say that would be a far better use of your time than spending any addition time in this highly rectangular, poorly-drawn sector pile. Avoid Fragtime Marine (1995) by @markklem (Crispy Doom) The sort of mid 90s treasure with tons of square rooms and notable lack of ceiling height variation. Yet, there's a certain snugness to these MM family maps that probably comes in large part from many of the TIC contributors spending much of their time in the DM sphere before making a splash with Memento Mori. In a way, it shares a little bit more in common with the average Eric Sambach or Jens Nielsen (at a stretch) map with it's layout, only with more creative uses of textures at certain locations and at times, an utterly unapologetic brutality. At the same time, things become more manageable as weapons are acquired and indeed, the amount of SS shells you'll have towards the end is ridiculous. Making one particular room with several Hell Knights and Super shotgun almost too easy. Although grabbing the SS does trigger an ambush of nobles in the nearby hallway. Another note, I guess Mark really likes the Inmost Dens because this is the second map of his I've come across using a room inspired by that (there's one in his multiplayer collection called "Big Wad" I rolled at an earlier point) There's also a nice outdoor area with a cliff containing an Invulnerbility (might actually be necessary for the fight here depending on the angle you come into this place from) and some curious triple pillars in the middle of slime but they're just differing locations and don't really support the thesis of this map having an unfocused layout. If anything, it might sprawl around a little too much for the average deathmatch map but it's still well-made regardless. About the only thing here is Mark carrying over his little Dehacked edits from Cringe! in a manner that...doesn't really change anything I guess. Besides, what's wrong with green-hued Mancubi? Also, "Slipper" is one of my top Mark Klem midis, which can't exactly hurt 7/10 -
If you're posting a wad, it should go in the Wad Releases and Development main forum as opposed to this sub forum because this is really meant to discuss wads which are previously released. You'll tend to get a little bit more attention that way but nothing can be guaranteed. Anyway, that question about deleting maps and replacing them is confusing and belongs more in Doom Editing

If Doom 2 happened in real life, would we win?
LadyMistDragon replied to neubejiita's topic in Doom General
Put it this way.....we wouldn't be leaning on one green-armored badass to come in and clean their conveniently-located HQ out. Although I feel like we shouldn't quite assume they'd be as dumb as their game counterparts. All the same, if they had just the same tools as they did in the game, it's hard to see them with a serious chance at least in the US. We would probably win if it was even like 5 v 1 odds in most cases. China might hand their ass to them but Russia would probably be screwed six ways to sunday depending on where exactly the portal is. Anyways, we had been winning in TNT: Evilution before they came in on a reconnitored ship from an unexpected direction. -
Bloody Catacombs - new UDMF Doom 2 level

The wicked on every side : REMAKE
LadyMistDragon replied to michealrockshim's topic in WAD Releases & Development
Having played the original, it's great to see something that didn't degenerate into RNG spamming by maps 6 or 7. I also remember playing it in a Boom port though, I think it would play fine here if the TITLEPIC wasn't animated. The main issue was the repetitiveness of the action overall. Quite a bit of door-camping still, not enough of the heavy weapons to make things less monotonous. Last map stood head and shoulders above the rest. Despite the high monster count and BFG spamming, it's probably not the most difficult and actually was quite fun, other than the Revenant ledges maybe. -

how would you rate your mental health?
LadyMistDragon replied to fruity lerlups's topic in Everything Else
It's basically about as good as it could be for being essentially alone. In other words, it's not really hanging by a thread but the amount of motivation I have to improve my living situation doesn't really exist. -
Decent little pressure cooker! I think you went overboard on the poweups though, and honestly the ammo to a lesser degree. Otherwise, this would unquestionably be your best map!
