  2. As I understand it, Looper got a record of 1 hour and 13 minutes and decided to lower it even further, but he hasn't gotten around to it. I have no idea if he will. Maybe if he doesn't, his achievement will show up in some form or another. I would like to see him finish, too.
  3. I can see the value of blind runs if people are doing them with commentary. That's entertaining. Commentary-less blind runs are valuable to the map author if they need their work playtested. I'm not sure I see the value of blind speedrun demos. I agree with most others that it would be good to route the run first.
  4. When I read your text, I first thought it was the All Ghosts bug, but it's not, because you're stuck within the confines of the walls. And I was stuck, because I -recordfromto'd from your demo near the end. The Hall of Mirrors effect is what happens when map authors leave walls/floors untextured. That's what it looks like happened here. It looks like the map authors wanted to keep you in the map and punish you when you tried to leave. Every time I open the exit door and move around, the walls and ceiling shut down. Pressing a switch doesn't change it. It's not a bug - it's the desired behavior for the map. I might be wrong - I might be on the wrong complevel or something, but there's nothing in the wad text file that tells me what complevel I'm supposed to use. I wish you had said more about the bug - not bug, event - in your forum post, though. It takes effort for me to download files and play them - more effort than if someone posts the video. I often cannot be bothered to put the work in. If someone puts a good description, it might motivate me to take a look.

  7. I kind of answered this in a recent thread, but make a run that hasn't been done yet. I like figuring out the mechanics involved in solving an unsolved puzzle. There's also a blank spot in the table and I want something to be there. Not all the time, though. Some things makes me want to beat an existing run, like knowing that a run is beatable, or wanting to match my performance that I did in a TAS, or seeing a question mark run. I don't care how hard it is - I just want to beat that question mark. I'm not motivated as much by crowns since I'm never going to be someone who does dozens of high quality runs per week. The ones I do have are nice.

  10. It's exactly the same demo. There are two copies of it, and I just wanted one copy. The only difference is the one uploaded more recently has a more accurate text file.

  13. Impressive work, but I particularly like Tysons and tablefills. P.S. You don't need all secrets for Tyson runs. They can get long enough already without requiring secrets.

Episode 1: E1M3 (Toxin Refinery) close behind: E1M5 (Phobos Lab) also notable: E1M6 (Central Processing) and E1M7 (Computer Station) These top two are the ones I have the most nostalgia for, and the ones I like the most. I certainly played E1M1 as a kid, and it scared me so much that I had to play it with cheats. It's fine, but it hasn't held up as much as 3 and 5. Episode 2: E2M2 (Containment Area). Lots to do, lots of places to go, lots to punch. I like it. Also notable: E2M4 (Deimos Lab) and E2M3 (Refinery). I'm not sure why people don't like E2M3, because I do. I like what the vines add to the atmosphere, and it's kind of non-linear, so I like that too. Episode 3: E3M4 (House of Pain). Fun with the berserk, fun with crushers. Not as fun to pacifist, but just don't pacifist. Also notable: E3M7 has grown on me. Wide open spaces, creepy atmosphere. Episode 4: E4M5 (They Will Repent). The texturing is bland, but I like the level design. Somehow this is my favorite. close behind: E4M6 (Against Thee Wickedly). Definitely not bland, lots of adventure, lots of challenge. Episode 5: E5M4 (Paths of Wretchedness) close behind: E5M7 (Nightmare Underworld). Maybe a little less fun to play, but more fun to watch than E5M4. I like the adventure and the atmosphere in both. Doom II: Map 24 (The Chasm). My favorite by far. Lots to explore, very non-linear. You can make this level as easy or as hard as you want. 2nd place: Map 04 (The Focus). 3rd place (tied): Map 18 (The Courtyard) and Map 19 (The Citadel). I have trouble explaining why I like these maps, aside from them mostly being non-linear and having a lot to explore. E1M3, E2M2, E3M4, E4M5, E5M4, and The Chasm are my favorites, with The Chasm is my favorite of all of them.
  15. The WR is 2:27, set by Pleymo just a few posts above yours, and 10 seconds faster than yours. Good job on the run, though. I hope you keep at it.
  16. I probably did this myself, and probably with pinkies as well, and then didn't tell anyone because I didn't think anyone could use it. It would be great for NoMo strollers, and more strollers is better. More (probably) useless trivia: Lost Souls can open the second last door in the exit room. They can also wake up sleeping cacodemons in the narrow ledge section.

  18. I'm not sure what you mean by info in footer, and I had to remove "-auto" to make it work. I removed -nosound as well. I often double-click demos by accident, and glboom is my default. I end up with some garbage demo getting played. So thanks - that helps. It doesn't help for PWADS, but it does for IWADs.
  19. Months ago, I watched Esko Koskimaa's UV Fast TAS demo of Doom II map 24, and thought how odd it was. It was going so well, and then he fell off the centre invuln platform, started acting crazy and died for no reason. There was no label by the demo saying that he died midway through the run. Today it occurred to me that the demo might be desynced. Can anyone watch this demo and does it play properly? Does it exit in 4:04?
  20. Thanks for the suggestions. I removed the second '-file' parameter (and put the main .wad first) and the .bat file worked.
  21. When I put the main wad and then update in the .bat file, I get an error: R_TextureNumForName: MCASWIN1 not found and nothing loads.
  22. That didn't work. Playback works the same as in 25.2: dragging and dropping can work, but .bat files don't. I tried putting -playdemo as the first argument in my .bat, and it still doesn't work.
  23. How do I get Super Mayhem 17's update to work with .bat files? If I use a .bat file to play the demo, the demo is desynced. When I drag and drop files into dsda-doom 0.25.2, I can play the correct demo. I drag and drop in this order: mh1725weakrckt.lmp, mayhem17_updatev1.wad, mayhem17.wad. If I drag and drop mayhem17.wad first, the demo is desynced. If I drag and drop the selected files again without reselecting them, the demo is desynced. This is the text in my .bat file: S:\Doom\dsda-doom-0.25.2\dsda-doom.exe -file "S:\Doom\wads\mayhem17_updatev1.wad" -file "S:\Doom\wads\mayhem17.wad" -playdemo "S:\videos\Doom\ports, code, lmps\doom.fandom.com\temp\mh1725weakrckt.lmp" Dragging and dropping is fine for playing demos, but I want to record demos and I don't know how to do it without .bat files or shortcuts. How do I get the update to work? This is the demo I'm using to tell whether it's desynced or not. If it's working, the second chaingunner doesn't die to a rocket. If it doesn't work, the player dies before firing at the second chaingunner. DW - Weird demos page 8
  24. Oh. I ran Super Mayhem 17 a few weeks ago, and couldn't get the update to work, so I decided to just ignore it. I can get what you described by dragging and dropping your demo and wad files into dsda-doom, but when I use a .bat file it desyncs.
