  1. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. It’s a good movie don’t get me wrong, but it is overrated and overhyped by everyone. Fistful of Dollars and For A Few Dollars More are far better films following The Man With No Name. Once Upon A Time in the West is a far better epic Western film in comparison as well.
  2. It might be time to take a break and cool off if Doom is giving you ants in the pants.
  3. Missile launcher and C-4. Missiles are guided, rockets are not. C-4 I can detonate when I choose too instead of dealing with a timer.
  4. Just a hunch here: Id had 4 keys for Catacomb 3D. Red, Blue, Yellow, and Green. Wolfenstein 3D has 4 locked doors programmed into the game, but only 2 key objects are included in the final game (you can still use the other 2 locked doors but without code changes, they can only be opened by enemy AI). The keys are silver and gold, but they really look more like blue and yellow due to the color palette used, and if early prototype HUD artwork is anything to go by the unused keys would have also been red and green. So, if Doom had a fourth key, we can assume that Id would’ve chosen the color green.
  5. I would want Adrian Carmack to make gib deaths for all enemies, if they implode or whatever anyways then just make it even more extreme if they’re gibbed. Yes, I’ve seen it done, but I would love to see it done by the man himself and within the limits of the original game. I would also want nightmare mode changed to where non-demon enemies do not respawn, and demons will not respawn if they are gibbed, and I’d remove their pain frames in this mode to make them even more aggressive at their faster speed on NM. Also, I remember reading somewhere a long time ago that the Caco initially was designed to have some sort of retaliation attack that was faster and stronger than his normal attack. That would be cool. Maybe also make lost souls be able to travel through walls.
  6. I imagine it would’ve been called Beyond Wolfenstein 3D. It would’ve been more like a reboot using the new engine vs a direct sequel I would assume as well. I think if they went this direction the doom engine itself would’ve been a bit different though, for better or for worse. Oh, and ROTT probably never would’ve existed, and if that happened then Shadow Warrior and/or Duke Nukem 3D may have came out sooner and been more like some of their prototypes.
  7. For singleplayer, I just use the weapons I want to use and don’t give it any extra thought, it just comes naturally. For deathmatch, the plasma rifle can practically blind people, and is fun to use when you are chasing down people with it almost as if it were the chainsaw, hearing the death screams of your opponents as they try to evade your psycho plasma rain.
  8. It was a big deal when I first saw the demo reel playing on a friend’s computer and I remember that was when I was first introduced and became hooked. I remember Doom was the start of “games will never look better than this” for me. It’s funny to look back on now, but at the time the colorful nature, the rocking tunes, etc. were no match for the true impression of terror the game left a mark on me with. Actually physically dodging the fireballs, getting shocked by surprise attacks, lights going out or flickering, all stuff people take for granted now, but at the time I had seen nothing like this. It was truly frightening hearing the demons roam around, seeing the levels get deeper into hell, etc.
  9. Hoping the added content for dark forces involves snow troopers or scouts, maybe the emperor too. I miss my long lost internet friend DarkForces99. If it weren’t for him I never would’ve known about this game to begin with.
  10. I like fighting games. You just need to find the fighting game series that interest you the most, then you find a character in that series you like visually, learn their moves, and work from there. That’s really all there is to it. You’ll either “main” that character in any game they appear in and adjust to the differences from one game to the next, or you’ll move on to learn other characters for different entries in the series. It also doesn’t hurt to play with a legit fighting game fan, and not just random people that mash buttons the entire time or against the unrelenting AI. You can learn a lot from people who have true skill in these games. Though, a fighter I recommend everyone is Marvel vs Capcom. The first one. I think anyone can really get into that game.
  11. in Duke 3d they don’t always drop ammo. Depending on the enemy they may drop the weapon, other times they drop used armor, or nothing at all. I think having it less predictable is a good thing. Though, in some instances I think if the enemies are using weapons that the player does not use, they shouldn’t drop any ammo. Some games let you swap to enemy weapons but in most combat situations that hardly ever happens, so it isn’t necessarily required to allow the player to switch and use enemy weapons.
  12. I’m sorry everyone. It was really sad to wake up to the news of Charles Martinet stepping down. I just saw the Mario movie literally last night and now this. I got emotional and said something that wasn’t right and I am sorry to @Individualised. He’s just as upset with the news as we all are and he didn’t deserve my harsh replies. I was just really upset with the news and took it more personally than I really should have, and really misread what he said to begin with so I was out of line. I’m sorry
