[Community Project] VANITY
SpinningPlates1 replied to EPICALLL's topic in WAD Releases & Development
Yeah, I haven't done too much work on the secret exit yet but it ends with the player going outside into this pillar of light (touching the pillar ends the level). Heres what it'll look like I think: -
First of all, Its nice to see someone who likes Down the Drain as much as I do. It's a really fun megawad and I don't know why it isn't talked about more (especially coming from a mapper as popular as Benjiogami). In terms of the maps, I thought they did the 90s aesthetic you were going for really well. Map1 was maybe a little short and I feel it could've benefited from an extra room or two but I really liked map2, and the gimmick with the dificulty level determining what key you get was cool. I've played lots of jank 90s shovelware maps and these feel very similar aesthetically. Good work so far, Im intrested in seeing where this goes. :)

[Boom] The Esoteric Formula (idgames)
SpinningPlates1 replied to dashlet's topic in WAD Releases & Development
Only 5 maps in (on hmp) so far, but already enjoying it immensely. I'm normally not a massive fan of "combat puzzles" but these are pretty fun generally. My favourite so far is probably map03 but I really like the arch-vile puzzle on map05. Also the visuals are really cool :) -
I WILL NEVER GIVE YOU ANY THING [MBF21 + UMAPINFO]
SpinningPlates1 replied to Maribo's topic in WAD Releases & Development
A couple of weeks ago, I played icgya and really loved both the slaughter gameplay and general visual design so when I saw a new wad from you with a similar title I was pretty excited and went in blind. It's hard to put into words how much I already love these maps, they're so isolating and inaccesable, yet I feel right at home among the flickering colors. Even after your explination I'm still not really sure how the palette works but am enthralled by it regardless. This is a really really great wad, thanks for making it <3. -

Hey, so I made a little progress on the first room last night. Just wanted to check if something with this kinda theme would be good for a map31. -

I was playing on Nugget Doom on MBF21. I may've just skipped the linedef by accident. I'll test it later to see if the same thing happens again. -

Hey, I've only played the first map so far but it is abolutely soul crushing. I'm a sucker for any map that uses a more ambient background music and love the subtle palette change, your architecture and texturing are brilliant also. Combat-wise, I played on HMP but was considering switching to UV until the gray sludge fight kicked my ass several times (still my favorite fight in the level tho probably). Generally, I think the area-denial style combat puzzles work really well with the map's oppressive atmosphere. Excited to play the next two maps :). Note: I seemed to exit the map missing a kill, after checking, it was in the area past the blue door where the floor drops out. Idk if I did something wrong or if its a bug. Other than that tho, the first map is basically perfect: -
[NOW RELEASED!] [9 maps for Doom 2] The Craven

Really great maps so far! Your architecture and texture choice are very nice. Combat wise, the fights are balanced and fun. Map 4 was my favorite in terms of both combat and visuals. Keep up the good work, I'm lookinng forward to playing this when it's fully completed :) -
NaNoWADMo 2023 - The month-long mapping challenge!
SpinningPlates1 replied to scwiba's topic in WAD Releases & Development
Count me in. This sounds like fun although I do have trouble "finishing" maps. Still, this may be what I need to motivate me (or something lol). 10 maps seems appropirate although, I dont expect to have 10 complete maps by the first of november. Anyway, see you in november with a (hopefully) finished product! -

Coolbase [Limit-removing map], v1.1

Very fun map, I'll be the first to admit that I'm not very good at Doom but got through on UV it without too much trouble (partly thanks to liberal use of saves). The texturing, especially the use of scrolling textures, was very nice. The action was also good, I really liked the fight with the platforms over slime (the one with the revenants, chaingunner and pain elemental). I found the ending kinda hilarious, when you lower the walls and, well, you know :). Overall super solid map, 8/10. (Also, good midi choice)
