  1. Doombringer made it into the IndieDB top 100 this year. Please go vote for us to get as high up in the ranks as possible. It will help us greatly. https://www.indiedb.com/games/doombringer/
  2. Might be, they wouldn't be the first company that something like that would happen to. IDK if it's true but I heard that QuakeCon even got renamed DoomCon.
  3. You got me beat, I played it with a GF3 at 15-20 fps.
  4. I made an update over at IndieDB to make people come and vote for the game in the awards. Go check it out.... and vote :) https://www.indiedb.com/games/doombringer/news/state-of-the-game-coming-up-on-steam-release
  5. Your example is flawed. Because there is one square you can press that is guaranteed not a mine. If that square where a mine too and the pattern was 01X 13X XXX instead that would be a better example. As in that case, there is without more squares outside of the nine, no guaranteed way to success. Though I am sure someone who's good at probability calculations could give a best likelihood of a positive outcome.
  6. Hey, thanks for looking into the game. There's nothing you've done wrong. But the Alpha you downloaded is an old version from a few years back that was mostly just multiplayer, with a single player test map thrown in. All the resources in the single player of that version is just basic placeholder stuff. But we're looking at releasing the game on Steam in january.
  7. Rage got really good FPS game play. The game had a lot of promise, which it unfortunately didn't deliver on as it is extremely linear, and there's little room to stretch your legs in the game. The cars are pretty bad, they sound like you're driving a lawn mower. The customizations you were promised were just linear upgrades. No reason to use any interesting configurations, as there are none. Aside from shooting people, which is great, the rest of the game is not doing the world justice and a lot of it comes off as pretty half heartedly done, or paying lip service to an open world. I kind of get the feeling playing it that a lot of the game never made it in though. They spent a lot of time working on it and probably scrapped a lot of work.

    QuakeCon 2012, August 2 - 5

Today is the first day of QuakeCon 2012, and with that comes the usual expectations of what id will be showing off to the public in their three-day gaming festival. It is of course expected to feature some tangible information on their upcoming Doom game. A lot of people are, as usual, expecting the regular keynote address by John Carmack, which is scheduled for this afternoon at 2:30PM (Dallas time). For more in depth information about the different planned happenings through the weekend, see the full schedule. An official stream is as usual set up for the tournaments in Quake that are being played during the weekend. This year there's three tournaments, Duel Masters, Duel Open and CTF Open. ESReality, CSN and Jeesports have the full scoop on the competetive aspects of QuakeCon 2012. CSN will also be streaming live from the event using their own stream.

    Base Ganymede released

After being in development for some two and a half years, Khorus has finally finished his three-episodes megawad project Base Ganymede. For those who do not know, Base Ganymede is a one-man project for vanilla Doom which plays out on the largest moon in the solar system, Ganymede.

That's neat. It's cool to see the artistic process that goes on in creating art. Usually people just see the end result.

  15. Gamespot posted a 30 minute anniversary video interviewing some of the key people of id about their 20 years in the gaming industry. A few questions are answered; for example, why id is no longer in the engine licensing business. You can check out the full video over at Gamespot's website.
  16. As QuakeCon 2011 is underway, John Carmack has performed his annual keynote speech at the event. The good people at QuakeCon have uploaded a video of the speech in its entirety at their YouTube account.

    Comic Rage

Bethesda and Dark horse comics are, according to Gametrailers, teaming up to make a three issue Rage comic book. Unfortunately it's not authored by the esteemed creators of the Doom comic, but instead by some other people. It'll be written by Arvid Nelson and penciled by Andrea Mutti. Will it reach the epic heights of the Doom comic? Only time will tell. Anyway, if you follow the link there is some more information about the comic and its authors, as well as a shot of the rather bland cover art.
  18. Thanks to the tenacious work of Quasar, Kaiser and Fraggle we can now see the release of the first version of Chocolate Strife, a source port dedicated to replicating the behavior of the game Strife: Quest for the Sigil as closely as possible. This has not been an easy task seeing as how the Strife source code has been lost for a long time and thus never released to the public.
  19. A few days ago on id Software's website they put up the announcement of an all new Rage website being launched. The website features videos, screenshots and much more about the game and the developers.

    Ruined Doom 3

In the wake of the Hexen Doom 3 TC's first release, another Doom 3 TC has surfaced. The Ruiner Doom 3 TC has had its first official release in the form of a beta version. The beta features 5 maps and an estimated 1 to 1-1/2 hours of game play. Ruiner is a dark, nightmarish, fast paced third person action modification for Doom3. the player fights hordes of the damned using unique weapons, abilities and spells. Ruiner is made by the same people that brought us Doom 3 and Quake 4 TCs like Hardquore 1 and 2, Fraggin Free, and Zombie Slayer.

    Hexen: Edge of Chaos Update

The Doom 3 mod Hexen: Edge of Chaos has updated a few days ago with the news of the impending release of their first hub in which you apparently will be playing as the cleric. Accompanying the update is also a little teaser, which however isn't more than a picture of their logo while a woman is talking in that classic fantasy foreboding way.
  22. A post of a user mentioning the number of posts a day he has made me check my own. Turned out I had a shitload of posts under my belt. An I got curious who was worse than me so I looked up the top ten list... And As it turns out, to my great dismay, I am on it. ;_;

    Lots of Rage

A lot of activity has spurted around the Internet about id Software's new upcoming IP Rage. Some of the buzz claims there will be a coop multiplayer mode, and a release time frame has been set, however unspecific. It's looking to be a 2011 release. You can read and watch all about it at Kotaku, Shacknews, Gametrailers and Eurogamer.
