  1. Really cool to see a classic style DM episode this late into Doom's life! Some of the areas were a little wide open for my tastes, but for some casual FFA fun I can imagine these being satisfying. Good work! I'm not sure if you used compblue to lean into the "intentional 90s jank" aspect of Dwango-inspired stuff, but adding WFALL1-4 patches + textures is super trivial. You can rip them right out of Plutonia.wad, no sweat!
  2. Thank you both so much That's the one I was going for, although I also had the idea that if I were to make a mini-episode using these tracks, I'd probably call it "losing blood" so it works on both fronts :)
  3. I usually just have a vague theme and maybe a particular visual setpiece or two in mind before I get to work on any given map, or sometimes those ideas might form during the preliminary stages of mapping. I prefer to have a dehacked resource basically finalized and some custom textures preferably too. It feels like it gives me a guiding light to work towards and a framework to design within. If I have no particular idea in mind and no custom resources and I just sit down and let shapes hit me, usually a standard Doom map that's fun but not amazing is what comes out. Which is okay, but there's plenty of those in the world already, so I prefer to work on stuff with a little more of its own identity, even if just through some visual or behavioral quirks.
  4. I'm so glad you guys like the songs, and I was honored for Lee to comment on this. Makes me wanna keep at it!
  5. Download: https://www.mediafire.com/file/fr3itzg9ez8d4gq/music_for_losing_blood.zip/file 27 minute collection of 8 MIDIs made within the first week of April Kinda gross sounding, maybe you’ll like that though. If so, enjoy
  6. Actually, every Zombieman has a different amount of ammo, they just happen to usually have 5 left by the time you kill them. This kid who sits at my lunch table told me he totally picked up a clip with 6 bullets one time, but it’s REALLY hard to do.
  7. “Whye don’t you freelook?” ”Who sez I don’t freelook?” ”…..You don’t freelook.” My truly genuine reaction every time it’s insinuated that Doom isn’t actually 3D:
  8. This looks badass, directly up my alley based on the description and screenshots. Added to my infinity-long playlist!
  9. I can confirm that’s intentional. The only defense is speeding around, an RL, and a wall nearby to the ghost monsters!
  10. I find backseat moderating far more offensive than drug stories. Minors shouldn't be here. (and rest assured this is NOT hypocrisy coming from someone who was part of the community for many years as a minor. Perish the thought.)
  11. Sorry it’s been almost a whole year with no new revision. There’s been a lot of vanilla and lightly LR stuff this last year - hoping to scrape it all next update!
  12. Once upon a time - and not all that many years ago - Earth.wad had one of the most majestic starting views of any pwad: Those waves crashing blew my goddamn mind. 1998 sure was a humble time. Roger Ritenour was a very talented Doom creator regardless what you may think of his gameplay. I remember vividly when this would have easily been within the first 5 posts. It amazes me how far this community has come since, and continues to go.. Truer words are rarely spoken.
  13. It's possible to stack a zero-tics-long frame with the FirePistol action to get it to shoot twice in one frame, if you'd like to beef it up a bit. Keep in mind it'll of course need two bullets per shot with this method, but it works well.
  14. You should switch over to Ultimate Doom Builder, as DB2 is at least 10 years out of date, probably more by now! https://devbuilds.drdteam.org/ultimatedoombuilder/ I believe this'll allow you to get on with mapping with all the correct resources showing up in the editor.
  15. Ante Mortem is one of the prettiest GZDoom-specific level sets I've ever played, blown away by some of the stuff that this mapset does. Being an old timer vanilla mapper and looking at these automaps is definitely a feeling:
  16. Got some almost-done map fragments here that are 99% unlikely to ever be used, please take 'em and remix them to yer heart's content if you're looking for a map base to work with. No credit needed!

  17. I've been walking through your streets.
    Where all your money's earning,
    Where all your buildings crying,
    And clueless neckties working.

Revolving fake lawn houses, housing all your fears.
    Desensitised by TV.

Overbearing advertising - God of consumers,
And all your crooked pictures looking good.

Mirrors filtering information through the public eye,
    Designed for profiteering.

    Your neighbour. What a guy.

In Battlefield 1, the war is alive,

A world of battles where heroes thrive,

With tanks that rumble and planes that soar,

It's a battlefield unlike any before.

The trenches are deep, the artillery loud,

The screams of war, a deafening crowd,

But in the chaos, we find our place,

In this epic world, we leave our trace.

From the deserts of Arabia to the fields of France,

We fight and conquer at every chance,

With rifles in hand and grenades at the ready,

Our courage and skill, always steady.

Through hours of gameplay, we become one,

A team of warriors, second to none,

With strategy and cunning, we seize the day,

We march to victory, come what may.

So why is Battlefield 1 such a good game?

It's a world of adventure, where legends are made,

With breathtaking graphics and immersive sound,

We're transported to a world where heroes abound.

Nah, these are from System of a Down. Great lyrics though

  18. When I read this line I DID burst into laughter! LOL amazing post. Oh, I will though. Most Tyson mappers are BIG babies and they couldn't even beat up Mike Tyson. Freaking POSERS!!

  20. This is an incredible campaign, and Snaxalotl is a very talented mapper and musician. I've played about 2/3rds of the maps so far and really enjoyed each of them - Here you'll find a delicious blend of atmosphere and well-calibrated difficulty, and the MIDIs really help to sell the experience. They are SO damn moody..! I absolutely recommend this to anyone who loves high-quality vanilla wads, atmospheric wads, or wads that will challenge the player without busting their balls. Excellent stuff. c:
  21. Copyright laws need changing desperately. It's a brave new world run by old cowards.
  22. We have a new winner for the "most Zoomerish thread". Pack it in, Hi :3.
  23. You can specify both intermission pics per-map and specific CWILV graphics (with map and author name) very trivially using ZDaemon's mapinfo support, which is based on the older (imo, 99999x easier to read) variant. Here's an example from UDMX_UDM3.wad, a fairly common compilation: map MAP31 "MAP10 - By: Ralphis" next MAP32 titlepatch CWILV30 sky1 udm3sky1 0 music D_M31 exitpic HELP2 intermusic D_READ_M "exitpic" is where you specify a custom graphic for the intermission!
  24. A cool thing is that this bug was actually - finally - fixed for the last revision of Final Doom for PC.. Eventually, in the rarest version that for years was only available through some (but not all) of the id Anthology collection boxes.. because why not! None of these versions are demo compatible with eachother, for what its worth. (They have different complevels in PrBoom and DSDA-Doom for example)
