You’ll need to include a little more of your arm in the sprite. Once you have 3-4 frames (photos) of firing the pistol and feeling the recoil, you’d recolour it to be much closer to Doom’s palette, scale it down to about Doom size, and then do some pixel touch-ups. It’s time consuming but can be fun too. This is more or less how id did it.

Downloading mirrors of idgames, TSPG and Wad-Archive?
Doomkid replied to Doomkid's topic in Doom General
This is a bit beyond my knowledge base, but if you’re having trouble creating a wad-archive account I can give you access to mine if it will help at all? -
Well, at least he's smiling big and showing off his pearly whites... Or pearly greenish-yellows, if you want to get technical about it.

Hey peoples, just wanted to give a quick update on this - HDRambo kindly searched and uploaded every last wad he had from the Dwango era but sadly Dwango9 was not a part of it - the closest he found were the same two wads we know about, DWANGO!.WAD and BLUDBATH.WAD. DWANGO!.WAD map01 not only has a Dwango9 logo, but also says "Tourney.wad compiled by Rockett". I wonder if Rockett is around and can maybe remember back 25 years to what the exact details are? If not, my current theory is starting to look more and more like like Shockwav3's: I think there is a good chance Dwango9 was renamed at some point to (ironically) avoid possible confusion or conflict with other Dwango compilations. I don't think it was renamed to dwangoX or dwango10 however, as they both seem to be their own independent wads - rather I think that BLUDBATH.WAD was possibly, once upon a time, known as DWANGO9.WAD. It not only has the Map01 from DWANGO!.WAD which featured the Dwango9 logo, but it also has the exact same font on the intermission screen. Furthermore, the various Dwango logos found throughout BLUDBATH are oddly "blank" compared to others, and almost look like they were hastily edited to remove the references to Dwango9, again to avoid confusion. There's no solid proof one way or the other - but this is my current working theory. HDRambo has helped in this search as much as he can by giving us access to all of these old wads, so the only hope of finally putting a pin in this seems to be getting in touch Rockett or another Dwango alum known to be associated with that crew. LATER EDIT: BLUDBATH is it's own thing and just happens to share some maps with the lost Dwango9 (sigh!)

Ultimate-Guitar has some of the best MIDI files, in the form of Guitar Pro and Power Tab files. I made a video on converting them here, 9 times out of 10 they sound fantastic:

Hopefully these tutorials I made a while back will be helpful:

World Tetris champion Jonas Neubauer dies suddenly at 38
Doomkid replied to [McD] James's topic in Everything Else
Far too young.. Rest in Peace, Jonas. -
Asking HDRambo about it might be helpful, maybe he'll know the story here or at the very least be able to get in contact with other old Dwango alums who might remember. I know YT isn't the best means of contact, but I did leave him a comment on his channel, but I don't think he ever replied.

Damn, what a shame - thanks very much for checking though, I really appreciate that. Looks like our only hope might be someone who has it stored on an obscure site that isn't trawled by Wad-Archive, or maybe someone has it stored locally on some old computer that may or may not ever be accessed again (like a more obscure version of how the 0.3 Alpha of Doom existed the whole time, but wasn't found til 2015). Or, it could really be the case that not a single copy remains and it's gone for good. Just for historical reasons, I hope that's not the case, but it may well be.

Thank you for pointing that out! That should do it.

Thank you for the responses, glad to see some interest in this! This is brilliant. In another thread, smeghammer mentions using HTTrack to spider the entire sites featuring huge wad collections (Wad-Archive and TSPG) though this method would download all non-wad elements of the sites as well, though those elements could be cleared away after the fact leaving only wads, zips and pk3s. There’s a chance @mifu or @WadArchive could offer us a more direct way to download the entirety of the wads/pk3s on their sites, but I still definitely figured it was worth mentioning here (more details in this thread: https://www.doomworld.com/forum/topic/119071-downloading-mirrors-of-idgames-tspg-and-wad-archive/)

Just curious if anyone here knows how one could possibly download one or all of these invaluable archives of wads? There must be 100,000 individual files at least between all 3. A very helpful user on YT has offered help on looking for the lost Dwango9. Additionally, I’d like to mirror as many of these files as possible on a personal drive. If anyone can offer help with this, I’d greatly appreciate it!

Just bumping this because I decided to make a video about this lost Dwango.. I hope someone has some info and can shed a bit of light on the mystery!

Master Levels for Doom II - 25th Anniversary MIDI Pack
Doomkid replied to Peter's topic in Mods & Resources
A funny thing about Map01 of TNT is that you can find some variants of it in DWANGO wads, and iirc at least one of them was released before TNT (but don’t quote me on that). Since a couple early MIDIs by Mustaine are also in the DWANGO wads, I can’t help but wonder if, after being rejected for the Master Levels, he figured it at least deserved a home in a DM compilation, not realising it would soon be made an official part of Doom through TNT.. Just another one of those old mysteries. -
I couldn’t help derailing this with my MM comment, lol.. I will say that people who are into more refined Doom wads (for lack of a better word) probably should play other stuff besides MM. I just love those 90’s maps. Plus the custom textures are generally still great!

I think there's merit to the idea of devs looking at how other devs do things and taking inspiration from their methods. Doom/Duke3D is a fine example, they have completely different engines and assets but still look and play superficially similar. I'm sure this is because 3D Realms/Ken Silverman used Doom as the guide for how to make an FPS engine, but of course written differently from-scratch. It would not be surprising to me if the same is true for things like Super Mario/Sonic, or any other cases where the game was clearly heavily inspired by an existing game. As for old consoles, both N64 and Playstaton games each had their definitive looks - Playstation had more detailed textures but really warpy/stretchy walls (even when not intended), whereas N64 had blurrier textures but without any of the weird wall wobble. I'm no programmer or console engineer, but I'm going to guess they look that way due to hardware limitations, and naturally that means all of the games made for each platform are going to succumb to those hardware limits and as a result look similar in various ways.

Fan made map-packs/megawads/episode replacements for Total Conversions?

I really like the idea of fan-made expansions to existing TCs. I know for a fact someone made some new levels for the old STRAIN TC within the last couple years, and the maps were definitely solid, but for the life of me I dunno how to find them now.. Every time I search "Strain Doom" or anything similar, I just get the original version (not surprisingly). It would be cool to see more unofficial expansions of unofficial expansions! -
