  1. Cataboom Reloaded

A large single map of Roman catacombs, with a basically linear but folded progression. The theme is classical and funereal. It takes the author about 50 minutes at UV.

Intricate passageways link feature rooms and the atmosphere is sombre with some nasty suprises. Wandering monsters can turn up in areas you thought you have cleared. It starts quietly, but you wake up the dead as you go. There are new sounds and graphics; in particular imps have been recast as mummies, exploding barrels are replaced by exploding urns, and all switches are levers. There are no "human" monsters or futuristic weapons.

Being very large it is unsuitable for Deathmatch, you might never find eachother! Co-op is provided (but is not well suited to it).

There were earlier, smaller Doom 1 and Doom 2 versions of this level :- 1Catabs, Catadoom and Cataboom, which you may come across. CATABOOM RELOADED is a significant upgrade that supersedes all those. There are now more ammo, additional features and fights, less chainsawing of lost souls, and more directional clues.

  6. Abyssal Speedmapping Session 26

21 maps made during the twenty-sixth Abyssal Speedmapping Session in the space of 2 hours (lol), with 15 minutes for music and texture selection and 15 minutes after for bugfixing.

This session was held in two "rounds" for the convenience of folks who couldn't turn up to one or the other.

Each mapper had 3 themes to choose from, this time the themes were based on Romero's maps (as he has just recently released a new one): - E1 theme. - Higher tier monsters and weapons! - All vertices on the 32 grid.

Plus a bonus theme for those who showed up to round 2: - Horseshoe layout à la E1M1 (Hangar), or backtrack layout (E3M9, for example).

  8. Comatose

This map originally has been made for "Pain" project, but in the result I decided to cut it from there because of some reasons (which I cannot say yet). It is a continuation of the idea of "Overdose", but it's not related in terms of the story. A limit of sidedefs in LR format is achieved here, so it is not possible to draw at least one new line at all. Because of this, as well as the abundance of large open spaces with lots of sectors, map may slow down in complex sourceports like ZDoom and it's derivatives, so PrBoom-Plus is HIGHLY recommended. The biggest performance (in terms of FPS) will be in GLBoom-Plus. Also, complevel 2 is necessary. Have a great game.

(Crates, session 17)

  15. Ossuary of Agony

"You don't know what this place is for or why the sands of Egypt held it in secrecy for so long, you only know that this place raised out from the sands around you and has nothing but ill intentions after the skies darkened to a deep blood red. Whatever this place is, you have no choice to go through it, hopefully there is enough firepower left over from your freshly crumpled military base...

You know you will need it."

Ossuary of Agony is a replacement of MAP25 for TNT, it pits you against the forces of hell in an Egyptian styled map with somewhat heavy resistance to encounter, it was supposed to appear in NOVA 2 but I couldn't finish it in time due to lack of inspiration...

Conserve your ammo, pick your shots and most of all kick some ass!

  16. Abyssal Speedmapping Sessions: Session 21

14 maps made during the twenty-first Abyssal Speedmapping Session in the space of two hours, with 15 minutes for music and texture selection and 15 minutes for bugfixing. Each mapper had 3 themes to choose from, themed around the work of the late Ty Halderman:

    - Dynamic architecture(akin to MAP32 of Icarus) - Gunfire-activated switches - No light levels between 128 and 192

It was also suggested that people use textures from TNT: Evilution. Breezeep, An_Mutt and TheMionicDonut used the Alfonzo Treatment.

  17. Acid Assault

"You have been sent to test out a new HEV suit that supposedly can withstand the acidic liquids found pouring out of Mount Zenith on the planet Reaver.

The rocky ball of hell known as Reaver is covered by a harsh landscape recently captured by the forces of dwelling demons that lurked below. The damn things are not going to make this field test easy...

Get out of that mountainous area and try to find a way home soldier!"

Acid Assault is an experimental map I made that serves no other purpose than to test out my ability to make rocky, mountainous areas using primarily 2 or 3 textures. Varied light levels were used to achieve this goal, I think it came out rather well.

I also made it an actual single player map, so there is that to do as well.

Here's a 6/11/20 or 32-level Megawad for Doom2, I'm aiming for 32-maps though. These maps, ranging from small to large, hopefully combines good detail and atmosphere with at times, strong difficulty. The hardest maps will be like Hell Revealed or slightly harder than that.

All maps are pistol-start-friendly and intended for. :)

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
