  1. The Waterfront

Innovative level 1 for Doom II. Excellent 2 and 4 player deathmatch and suprisingly good solo and co-op play as well. Features areas haunted by the ghosts of dead players, some of whom are still firing their guns at you when you pass. Also features INTENTIONAL USE OF THE ARCH-VILE BUG!!! Don't be daunted by the size of this file. It's an excellent deathmatch. It was about 270k before I started putting in the graphics, music, and sounds. And because of its great visibility, it plays a lot smaller than that. You should have no trouble finding someone to kill, especially in a 4-way game.

  2. WAHWAH.WAD (v 1.45)

A well laid out single / multiplayer level with extra attention paid to textures, alignment and other small details missed out in many other levels. A good time for triple 100% (UV) is about 15 minutes. P.S. Only been played max 2 player so far, please give your views on 3/4 player deathmatch.

  3. Zealot

First it should be a Single Player only level. Then I decided to include a Deathmatcharea. And now the Deathmatcharea is better then the Single Player Part! My betatesters said also that it is'nt that good as Single Player - so you maybe want to use this as DM only Level. The Deathmatcharea contains a separate exit, different weapons etc. So give it a try!

Be sure to play Deathmatch in Skill Level 1/2 and with -altdeath!

  4. Who's afraid of the dark?

This DOOM2, level 1 PWAD is the net result of playing and studying dozens of other levels. I incorporated all my favorite tricks and traps into this one, three key level.

WAOTD.WAD is designed as a mini-game, taking you from pistol to BFG 9000. All the bad guys are here as well as just enough power-ups and ammo to get you through the level. One of the frustrating aspects of this level is that each goal -- ending, keys, etc. are in plain sight -- but you have to deduce how to "get there from here" while fighting off the strategically place enemies. You need to be observant as well as vigilant, and there is a maze problem that will challenge you too.

I have included a demo file, HOW2.LMP, that shows the entire level played without cheating. It took me over 17 minutes to make it, and I know all the tricks! To view it be sure that WAOTD.WAD and HOW2.LMP are both unzipped into your DOOM2 sub-directory. Then use the following DOS command:

    doom2 -file WAOTD.WAD -playdemo how2

This level should provide you with many hours of intense action!

Additional Credits to My kids, Megan, Joe, Mike and Steven who put in a lot of test-play time and helped me root out the bugs. I think we got them all. I will say that most of the "bugs" turned out to be problems with the DoomCad node builder, because after processing the wad with WARM 1.3 they disappeared.

Meanwhile, you need to acomplish the last mission to definitely heradicate these Hell forces. So, for the last time, you go back to Middle Ages to do your work. Gal Mac Porter warns you about the surely hardness of this mission, because it seems to be Hell Order's last chance to invade Earth. 6. Watch your back too (2)!

Replacement of wyb.wad, due to a downloading mistake. Doom2 wad with a medium large labytinth where you'll find a bunch of secret doors...When you play it on ultra- violance go easy on the ammo, otherwise there's enough.

  7. Wrong key? Wrong door?

This is the first Pwad-file I've build so far and it took me quite a while to finish it, but that may sound familiar to you. It's totally designed for single player mode for that's what most of the common DOOM-addicts are sleuthing for. There isn't a story or other useless introduction to be told here except for the fact that there are a lot of different switches involved, so the environment will change continously. As far as I know there's a new, and certainly frustrating, surprise in this level that I so far haven't seen in any PWAD-file. (and if it's already an old trick: have you managed to work through all the levels available right now?) Wait till you have found the yellow key and hurry with this newly acquired gadget to the right door. Because of the new role of the keys in this level it was worth naming it that way.

No story - just have fun!

If you wonder what the silly name stand for: it is german and means 'rusk'. I named my level this way because I was eating this %@ the whole weekend.

  9. Western Wyoming College

I have attempted to create a level that looks simular to Western Wyoming College in Southwest, WY. I could not add *ALL* of the rooms (that would be ludicrous), but it does (somewhat) look like the overall map of the college. There are plenty of big, open rooms to explore and MANY monsters to kill.

  10. The Keep of SIN

Ok, this the first in a series of pwads in the 'SIN' series. In this level, teleport in to the Keep of YamanLamanLa (King of Sin and the man who opened the gate to bring the demons to earth to begin with) in an attempt to assassinate him and stop the madness. Problem is.. he has for-seen this move, and is no where to be found, but he has left plenty of Baddies in his place.. Time to clean house.

  13. Yikes!

This DOOM2, level 1 PWAD encompasses a very large virtual space with a surprise around every corner! I designed it to be a "mini" game that takes you from pistol to BFG 9000. it contains a creative use of two sided line defs that I have not seen in any other pwads, and an interesting maze problem. "Yikes" should give you a good hour or so of play.

If anyone adapts this PWAD for cooperative or deathmatch play please let me know. Since I don't play in those modes, I did not know how to best implement them.

  15. Wet Work

Wet Work: We've lost contact with a small science outpost located on the Isle of Gilligan. UAC recon indicates an enemy presence, the hell spawn have redecorated and HQ doesn't like the color scheme. No one really likes you much, so we've decided to send you in alone, poorly armed, with no fire- support what so ever. If you survive we'll swing by and pick you up sooner or later, otherwise we'll be drinking beer and pissing on your grave. Good Luck!!!

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
