March 04, 2001 - Moving Out |
Well, where to begin...
Regarding Doom Millennium: I have been waiting the last few months
for the new engine to come through to finalize some level features
and pack everything together. I dunno what happened but our coder
lost the latest engine (don't ask me). There's still two important
things that need to be ironed out before we can release it or else
some maps won't be playable. So, if any coder out there needs a
relatively short job to do, let me know. Besides that, the story
needs to be worked out a bit. That's about it.
Regarding this homepage: I HAD a page design done two months
ago (the "official" page, not this temporary news page),
but guess what? NETSCAPE SUCKS! So I've been redesigning it and
refitting it for that friggin' Netscape, since so many people still
use it. Even though the latest version was obsolete like 2.5 years
ago. I hate Netscape. The AOL of web browsers.
Regarding me: I'm going to be homeless in about a month. I'm busy
working out a plan at the moment. The university where I was working
full-time as a temp now has a part time position open. I will find
out if I can get it within a week. If I do, things will be good. My
division is totally isolated in the basement of the building (I work
in computer services). There is a spare office down there where the
boss will let me move my computers, keyboard, drum programmers and
other stuff into. So I'd work for 4 hours and then walk across the
room into my office and work on Doom and music for another 4-6 hours,
which beats the zero I've had available since I got my fulltime job.
We have a fridge and microwave down there too so most everything is
taken care of in terms of basic living needs. I also get a free 600M
connection to the internet :) I went to get these knee wraps from a
gym and this guy was trying to get me to join this gym in the process
of selling me the wraps and I'm like "No thanks I've got all the
stuff I need at home", but now that I have to leave I'll
probably do that, since I'm gonna have to sell my home equipment
anyways. This place also has showers and lockers and stuff so that
means everything except a place to sleep is taken care of. I figure I
can manage in the car a few nights and some friend's houses the other
few nights. Either way, this is going to be an interesting ordeal and
I'm anxious to see how well it turns out. It could prove to be very
productive for me, or could end me up on the streets. I'll be back
with news in about a month.
