I saw over at Voodoo Extreme that during a recent interview with Paul Steed and Tim Willits of id Software, the question of possible sequels to Doom and Wolfenstein was brought up. What's that? A quote? Sure, why not:
I note that Willits conveniently forgot about the Doom2000 part of the question... what this means I can only wonder.

The The Deep97 Homepage has news of the release of a new version of Deep97, bringing the WAD editor up to v9.79. Here's a rip from the page:
Registered users of Deep 9.78 can upgrade for free, as usual.

    DWBS

    By Linguica, in News,

To help tide you over until Covaro (finally) posts the info about the Doomworld Christmas contest, I coerced him into revealing the prize list. Enjoy!
Does that wet your whistle? Then read the Doomworld box up above and enter, or wait around for Cov to post the official page.

    Sitewatch

    By Linguica, in News,

Securitron has posted a screenshot and an animated GIF showing off a new monster which has been completed for episode 3 (a brand-new one too, not just a sarge head on an imp body or something too).
Fanatic has been working away on QDOOM, planning out E2M3 as well as balancing the other maps for deathmatch play. Also, the "Fragging Fanatical" CDs continue their long arduous journey towards being ready to ship.
The Chaos Crew is back, spreading chaos and mayhem as usual. There's the news that their in-progress WAD "Caverns of Darkness" probably won't make a '99 release date, but there are some new screenshots to peruse, not to mention a note to come back for a present on the 25th.
Everybody Dies is back, which makes it the third or fourth time this webpage has been taken down and put back up. The megawad appears to be cranking along, but don't expect any "episode by episode" release structure.

    Wanna Cyber?

    By Linguica, in News,

Everyone's favorite Doomnation webmaster Cyb (well, there's a one in three chance of that being right) has updated his homepage with some random stuff and also a screenshot of Zort 7, currently in progress. Remember how there were like 4 Arcticas and 7 Eulogies? This guy has made a lot of maps.

    Contest Update

    By covaro, in News,

Damn, I love this contest. You guys have been putting in some great entries. It's really quite fun. Some are funny, and some are just so true. And since no one is exactly sure what I want, they all put their own little twist into it. Well, as soon as I get off my lazy ass and get the official page up and stuff you'll see everything. Until then, send in your piece to xmas@doomworld.com. And if you haven't entered yet, why not? It's FREE dammit!

    New ZDoom

    By Linguica, in News,

I see that there's a new version of ZDoom out, bringing the Linux/Win32 Doom port up to version 1.22. New in this version? Well...
I think that the second one is another way of saying that Win32 and Linux users can now play multiplayer games versus one another, since that's what Randy also goes into detail about in his news update.

    Keeping It Going

    By Linguica, in News,

The TeamTNT homepage had a rare update a few days ago regarding the status of Doom2000 (their ZDoom-based WAD project, not that other Doom2000). Apparently it's taking a while longer than they had originally expected to piece the whole thing together, but fear not, for the first hub in the game will be released in time for Y2K.
