Since Raven-Games is back up, that also means the return of the Win32 OpenGL Heretic port JHeretic, with version 0.92 being released. What's new, you ask?
Erm... ok. SmashDM Test Release 4 is the topic of discussion atm. Why? Well, because it has finally been released. So much for you to drool over, I mean, can one ask for much else? Working Mutli-play would be nice, since some idiot coder decided that he was going to break it when he inserted a bunch of bugs into the code for the game. *grumbles* Oh well, download and enjoy it anyway, I mean, you can enjoy a SP game anyway, so much better than DM. =D

SpiceOne let me know about a new mod he's working on called SpiceZDoom which allows the player to turn into a whole host of different Doom monsters with different attributes and weapons. I tried it out and it's pretty cool -- the Cacodemon can even fly around. It's still an early version and there are some bugs but check it out.

I almost forgot about this... while I was at E3 and stopping by the booth for id Software's Q3A mission pack, I got to talk to Tim Willits briefly. Here's what happened (paraphrased of course):
Me: "So what will id's next game be after Team Arena?"
Tim: "We'll start working on out next full game."
Me: "Any chance that the new game would be Doom2000?"
Tim: "I can't really say anything about that."
Me: "So you neither confirm nor deny the rumors?"
Tim: "I'd lean more towards deny."

Remember Zombie Doom? One of the original victims to hard drive failure? Well, mewse has dug up a really old beta version of it and posted it. I tried it out with ZDoom, and it was quite a bit of fun... powerful weapons, lots of explosions, a flamethrower with enemies that catch on fire, blood splattering on walls, and progressively dismantled enemies (shooting zombies first blows off one arm, then the other, then tears them in half; sometimes their head will explode). Sucks that this thing never came to fruition.
