Seven more wads for you to chew on in this weekly dose of Newstuff.
Hello! by Hello Software - A 14-level WAD for Doom2. A few new sounds. No new music, but there are a few weapons and sprites from Duke Nukem 3D. This game is meant to be used with a Dehacked patch, but is still quite playable without it. Fairly good level design. Great for cooperative play. Not recommended for deathmatch. Dsv by Samuel A. Villarreal - This is a 32-level Doom2 megawad for Boom/ZDoom. It includes a bunch of new weapons. A few monsters from Heretic and Hexen are pulled and plugged into this WAD. It also has a few new sounds. Although most of the music is replaced, most of it comes from Final DOOM. While the levels in this WAD aren\'t top-notch quality by any means, they aren\'t all that bad either. Be warned, though; this author seems to take an unusual liking to the Hall Of Mirrors effect. Overall, this huge WAD should be somewhat enjoyable. Harris11 by Lawrence Harrison - Nothing too fancy. A quick, one-map WAD for Ultimate DOOM. Even in its hard skill setting, this level is fairly easy going. Even though somewhat quick, this level is nice to play. For a beginning attempt, it shows a glimmer of promise. Capture the Castle, The 3rdblood by Chris Sobotkiewicz - This Doom2-based deathmatch is a little bit too wide for your typical one-on-one. The more players the better is pretty much the signature of this WAD. Its castle has some interesting flickering-light effects. Of course, there\'s plenty of outdoor room if you\'re into that kind of thing. Should be good for 6 to 8 players. Doom Classic 5: Mars outpost by Anthony Soto - To many, this is what a DOOM level should be. A single map, running on E2M5. This level is successful in recreating the true feel of DOOM. This is a wonderful fear-induced level. There are no big monsters, but health runs low, and the ratio of monsters to ammo available is balanced superbly, especially on Ultra-Violence. Well worth a download. Forgotten Base Special Edition by Tarin - Four quality deathmatch levels made for ZDoom and Skulltag. As well as providing entertaining deathmatch level design, there\'s some neat special effects tucked into this WAD. Things like flaming computers, thick fog, spinning fans, and sliding doors are incorporated. All-around good quality. Khazad-dum by Philippe Lesire - A single map for Heretic inspired by the famous series of books known as \"Lord of the Rings\". This is a fairly good-sized level. With a new music track to go along with it, this level has some definite atmosphere. The dark, musty caverns of a mountain is well portrayed. Heretic fans should find themselves mildly entertained.

5 WADs for you guys in this first weekly wrapup of the new files on CDROM.COM:
Deathmatch Incarnate 2 by Stephen Noonan - A Doom2-based deathmatch level by fUnKyMoNk, with four deathmatch start locations. The action pretty much takes place in one open area. It has no BFG or Plasma Gun to speak of, which may be considered a plus to some DOOMers. It shows off some impressive architecture and lighting effects, and it even has a few new textures. Overall, it should make for a good deathmatch. Deathmatch Incarnate 7 by Stephen Noonan - Another quality deathmatch level by Stephen. This one is a little more complex than DI2, depicting a medieval-style castle out at sea. More new textures, high-quality architecture, and traditionally, no Plasma or BFG. Despite what the text file says, there is no new music, and the level plays on MAP07, not MAP01. Stadel by Rick Clark - Wildman releases a quick level for Doom2. Some new textures, some 3D floors, and no big monsters. A fairly nice looking level. Good playability. Requires EDGE. Fortress of the Damned by Dave Jessop - One giant rectangle-shaped, fortress-themed level for Doom2. In its standard single-player mode, this level turns out to be painfully boring. For 6 months of work, this WAD doesn't quite meet my expectations. Pokemon Stadium: Featuring Mario by John D. Corrado - This ZDoom/Legacy graphics WAD allows the Marine to wear one of two new skins: Pikachu, or Mario. It even has some new music, and a few new sounds. It should be entertaining deathmatch for some Nintendo fans.

A new Mailbag. One mention here and you'll get hosted by newdoom.com in no time!
A new 'Aliens Doom'? Perhaps. From the same guy who made that nice 'Aliens' sprite a while ago there's now word that he has started work on an Andrew Loly.
There are a few teaser shots of Torture available at the site. The shots are from an early version of the first map using the 'Biotex' texture set.
Remember STRAIN? Brine sent word that he'll be attempting to convert this pumped-up Doom2 TC to the Mac. The installed files are also available at the newsgroup alt.binaries.doom for those who would like to try this themselves.
Jean-François Thibault has opened a site called Mega64, home of his ZDoom project 'ZDoom3000' which is described as "a space war mixed with Doom2". A beta of ZDoom3000 can already be downloaded. He's also planning on opening WAD/editing sections for Doom and Doom2 but those are not ready yet.
The REoL Tough site has started a new project called 'DeatH Fest 2000' and will be a "mega-WAD for plain DooM II, featuring as many levels that can be made as possible until the end of the year". More information can be found at the site itself.
Acidburn released the first beta map of his Annihilation project. A few screenshots are also available.

Just in case anyone had any questions regarding my lack of intelligence, I will dispel all doubts by venturing out to go backpacking in the desert tomorrow and Friday, during the worst heat wave of the year. I plan on bringing a ton of water, but I fully expect it to all boil off at around 3 in the afternoon tomorrow, so make sure to check the papers for the account of how I was found, half-dead, by a band of aborigines, nursed back to health, and then hunted for sport in an elaborate ceremony to bring one of their man-children into full adulthood. Oh yeah, and I won't be around to update DW for the next two days, so keep your fingers crossed that Mordeth and/or Covaro show up to take the reins.
