The Doomer's Recess has been updated with a review of Car Park by Adam Gartwaite. There also is a new scoring system that has been decided upon, which will apply solely to deathmatch levels, as their criteria differ from standard SP fare.
The Ghostbusters Doom 2 homepage was updated today with some news about the project. The creator wants to release a multiplayer-only version of GBD2 for use with csDoom, but he needs to find a place to host a permanent server for it. Also, there should be a new demo release sometime soon, with some new levels and Dehacked work. Also, in the last update which we missed, there was a new skin pack for download which, according to the page, has skins for Ray, Egon, Peter, Winston, and Slimer.

The csDoom Master Server is back up at IP=24.8.143.154. Make sure you change your master.cfg file to this new IP before you connect to this client/server Doom port. Sergey is also looking for a FreeBSD/Linux shell to do some testing off the server.

Andrew Apted has released v1.8 of the gl-friendly nodesbuilder glBSP, fixing "a major bug causing thin (but ugly looking) gaps to appear between some subsectors, and some other problems". This nodesbuilder can be used building levels for OpenGL Doom port. It operates in accordance with the 'gl_friendly nodes' specification which will compute the polygons needed for drawing fast and very easy. So far the only OpenGL port that adheres to this new specification is EDGE.
The binaries and source for DOS, Windows and Linux have been mirrored at our utilities section, as usual. Andrew Apted has also updated the 'gl_friendly nodes' specs, introducing a new format for theGL_VERT lump. This new format hasn't been implemented yet.

The JHexen home page has, oddly enough, a test version of JHeretic with Jaakko's new netcode for his Doomsday engine which allows open entry. He would like as many people as possible to test it out in order to see how well it works.

Webvoid has scooped everyone and has posted an exclusive look at Doom 3! No, I'm not kidding! They have screenshots and everything! They even interview id Software employees about it! I swear, it's legit! No wait, it's a joke. Sorry, I forgot for a minute.

This was kind of an abrupt way to leave, but Yoghurt sent me an email saying that he's quit the Cajun Bot and Doom Wars projects. He also appears to have deleted everything related to them, as his homepage is completely gone. Sucks that he decided to leave, and it sucks more that he took down everything he had, but I am sure he had a good reason (at least, I hope).

We've been getting quite a few emails about this subject, hence this snippet. Walnut Creek aka CDROM.COM is going to stop providing free mirrors for commercial archives - which is quite understandable. After first hearing about this last week we fired off an email to maintainer Ty Halderman of the (non-commercial!) Doom archives there, and he wasn't aware of any changes in the current status of our beloved archives. So rest assured... unless we hear otherwise in the near future all Doom files at CDROM.COM are safe.

Not Doom, but what the hell. Ken Silverman, author of "that other 2.5D engine" entitled the Build engine, which powered games such as Duke Nukem 3D, Blood (a favorite of Mordeth's), Shadow Warrior, and on and on and on, has released the Build source over on his homepage. While I don't expect much to be made of this in the world of Doom, it is interesting nonetheless.
