    New Vavoom

    By Linguica, in News,

The Vavoom homepage has been updated with the news that version 1.5 of the Doom/Doom2/Heretic/Hexen source port has been released. As the author says, "You can compile a dedicated server application, multiplayer menus also is done. Dedicated server mode is not done and, when you have dedicated server application, it's not very usefull. I think, that LINUX dedicated server can be compiled on other UNIX systems."

    By Linguica, in News,

Who knew there was a Digimon movie out? I had absolutely no idea. Anyways, over at the RTC Corporation, the Digi-Mortal project page has been updated with the news that E1M4 has been completed and E1M5 is getting underway. Also, project leader Andy Leaver is looking for a few team members and a few testers.

    UltraFE 1.0 Released

    By Linguica, in News,

UltraFE, the front-end to end all front-ends has been released, with full support for every Doom incarnation every created. To ber perfectly honest it supports just about any program ever made, but I have a feeling most of you aren't too concerned about getting a frontend for Virtual Valerie 2 or Deer Hunter 3.

    DWBS

    By Linguica, in News,

Status report on the 10 Sectors contest: Matt Dixon has sent in all of his picks, from his top 32 and top 10 to top 3 and top 1, with the winning level in his mind being made by a person you might not expect. AndrewB has sent in his final results as well, and his top pick might be from a name you've heard of before, and probably played before. Mordeth has sent me his top nine levels, but has yet to give me any final official results. Martin Friberg says he'll be done with his judging soon (we'll see) and Malcolm Sailor appears to have died, so maybe you should nudge him a little.

That's right, we have a big huge update, over at the Skulltag site! What's today's big news? Nothing less than a new site design! A healthy fusion of teal and black, designed by the one and only, Cyb! ... A new look isn't the only thing happening over at Skulltag. It seems they're launching a contest of some sort! Your job is to come up with a nifty description of what Skulltag is. A tagline, so to speak. The prize? It's undisclosed, but all the more exciting that makes it! So while you're there, stop off and speak your mind about the new site design on their new and improved poll system. Enjoy your visit!

    Got Ballz?

    By Linguica, in News,

There's a new mapping contest going on over at the, um, D*A*F*B*B*L*Z site, the aim of which is to make some csDoom-playable deathmatch WADs which don't make use of the plasma rifle or BFG.

    Arena Of Doom

    By Linguica, in News,

The Doom Arena site has a biggish update with a new screenshot of level 5 which is a new void level. As they say, "this level will have 3 different small rooms connected by a transporter. This will hopefully make for some interesting DM play with chases and fragging moving through all three." Also there's some sparse news on a new project utilizing the Quake III texture pack from Chris "Shambler66" Pisarczyk.

    Murdoch Mania

    By Linguica, in News,

Joel Murdoch sent word that he's put up a new website about some personal interests not to mention the requisite Doom stuff. Of particular interest is the "Help Desk" which covers some basic questions about Doom-related stuff, like how to run WADs and what file extensions stand for.
